Sprites The Necropolis (Alternate Desert)

Yeah, never played hardcore myself, purely because I hate putting so much time into something then having it get taken away from me because I forget something important or do something stupid. But would be a very handy item, especially for boss fights or moon events.

On another note. This newer 'Death Cult' responsible for the banshee's, they wouldn't have anything to do with the End of Days, would they?

Doubtful since the icons are so dissimilar.
Yeah but still. I mean, yeah people would learn the difference but still. Don't you want to like avoid things like that?

[doublepost=1491408816,1491408588][/doublepost]Maybe "Dawn Soul" and "Dusk Soul" or something of the like. I don't mean to try to micromanage your suggestion, I'm just trying to assist.

I think it'd be more of a valid concern if players only experienced the item in text. Or in vernacular.

Game wise though, there are other conditions.

- The sprite is radically different.
- The sprite is not animated.
- There's an established pattern with the "Soul of" set of items (you can rely on them to be Soul Of 'X')
- There's a thematic disconnect.
- The Guide literally provides a visual guide of crafting recipes

There's not an issue here. Now if I named the item "Soul of Dawn" or "Souls of Light", animated the sprite to look more in line with the other Souls items... then I could see where in-game and player confusion would happen and happen often. I'd want to avoid that.

This minor similarity only seems to hold weight. It doesn't actually. Abate your concerns.

*puts hands up* Okay okay I was just saying. Your thread would be a good addition to the game and it needs no changes.

Your concern is admirable but ultimately wasted. The name of the item means nothing in the long run. If the devs were to pick up and run with the idea... 95%+ of the suggestion as you see it here probably wouldn't be used.

It's the concept and the suggestion in theory that's important. Not the details. Like balance -- that's for the devs to sort out if they want to move forward with adding it.

Could the item cause confusion? I doubt it. Would it be changed if added? More than likely.

One of the most disheartening things you'll have to accept when it comes to suggestions (whether making them or reading them) (and especially alternates) is that whether the idea is used or not, it's likely all of the content will go unused. The truth of the matter is; if the Necropolis was added to the game, it would need a lot of changes. The only thing that would likely be left intact would be "Undead Swamp Desert Alt".

Of course. I get all that, and it was silly of me to comment on such a detail. That's just how I am. I apologize for taking up so much space in your comments section.

tbh when i saw the sediment in an x items i expected it to be "great fog in an x" rather than sediment cuz sandstorm in a bottle for actual sandstorms, and then...heavy fog would make sense...but hey, if it were heavy fog or something it wouldn't make much sense (yes ik that not much in terraria makes sense, but you know) to have it act like sandstorm, rather a slowly rolling fog to let you drift down to the earth rather than break your legs on that hay bale you thought would be soft...but hey, what do i know?i'm just some guy who thinks he knows things, also, i can understand if you end saying it doesn't really matter in the end cuz if relogic takes anything it'll likely be different from what you intended, but I personally don't see this as a "relogic lookitdis" and more like a what if, and if someone asks and you accept, a cool mod! so do as you wish Izzabelle, be majestic and do as you wish to do! +support and stuff

So, what would be the equivalent of the Pyramid here? Is it dubbed a "Soul Prison", given that you list Soul Prison armor and weapons in the notes?

Thanks, but I'm already beyond a beginner spriting guide.

I've already come to understand the rules of sprites for Terraria long ago. Like. 14 alternates ago. If something I'm doing bends or breaks one of those rules, you're welcome to confront me about it so I can explain the logic behind it.

Also -- just to point out an oddity with your comment -- You say nice sprites, but then link me to a beginner guide. I'm not sure if I should feel complimented for having "nice" sprites, or take minor insult for being linked to a beginner guide, lol. Is it like... a "keep Izzabelle humble" sort of thing with a backhanded compliment? Or have you assumed I know nothing, like Jon Snow, and I've only lucked into some "nice" things? Are you just laying on sarcasm really thick? I'm not trying to be a brat about it, your comment just has me sincerely curious to understand the context.

Sorry. I just noted that the outline are somewhat dark.
[doublepost=1492381161,1492381108][/doublepost]I did not intend for my post to be insulting in any way.

Ah, this was raised before; the outlines are actually very dark purely for Forum readability. Not for in-game functionality.

here is a suggestion
you should include things from your other alternates in existing ones
like create a wight for the infestation or the Whimsy or the Glade or something like that
