Esther tries to listen in, as she can at least understand Nocturn's side.
(Reminder that Esther, and by extension Roxas, can understand Pokémon very accurately.)

At the blink she notices she's looking at wrong direction and looks southwest. And then northwest.
"Whoops. A bit of a daze from that slam got into me..."
Assuming Esther was listening from very beginning, they'd be able to know that Nocturn already has a trainer - John Sharpfields (they may know that even if they did only now listen to it), and they got into a house (only to be chased out of it) because they wanted to find that trainer here.

And it seems some people have emerged and are trying to rebuild the town with what remained.
