**REPORTED** Trapdoors not properly syncing across multiplayer

My brother and I are on a multiplayer world via Steam. He's hosting the world.
For him, trapdoors work just fine. However, sometimes, when he says they're closed, and entities can't enter, for me, they're open and they CAN enter, and they kill me.

While reading through the known/reported bugs list, I came across this one:
Issue: Significant Multiplayer Desyncing and Lag Issues in 1.4
Present In: All 1.4 Versions
Status: Known, under investigation
Fixed In: Some fixes present in 1.4.0.3, more to come
More Info: We are investigating reports that some users are experiencing desyncing and multiplayer connection issues on 1.4, and are looking into optimization to improve it.
 
This is a known issue, thank you for the report. :)

Its unrelated to the frequently reported note in that thread.
 
Yes, multiplayer (especially with at least 1 party lagging or having a lag spike) is quite bugged. Some of the issues have been fixed for me (aside from the usual ghost water block), but that does sound bad.
