So i just recently have been trying to use a bluetooth controller to play Terraria but I've had some difficulties. For starters my controller is a pretty obscure brand, but it IS indeed recognized in the game. Most buttons work, except the triggers, select and start buttons. I've read a thread here with some buttons in a Xbox controller not working and someone in the comments said a possible solution for unresponsive buttons is changing button styles, but that option does not exist in my game.
