Game Mechanics Use for “low level” items

It’s probably too late but “low level items” could get some use at late game if usage of equip-able items had a “resources cost” and players had to choose what they use.

As players “level” they get more resources, allowing them to use higher end weapons/armor, players can then choose - e.g. high end weapon but low end armor or mid tier weapon and armor. Something like that.

Instead of weapons and armor becoming obsolete and useless - and everyone having the same items at specific points in the game.

But as aforementioned it’s probably way too late for such a change.
 
This idea is kind of like the charm system in Hollow Knight. Maybe you could try and learn to mod and put this in the game?
