THE STORY
The NOVUS IV is an empire-funded and machine-manned Atlas-class ship, the largest in its fleet and designed for exploration and occupation. Five fresh batches of machines are in their first placement here - fifty total, including yourself. All machines on this ship are fresh out the box, never before booted. This ship is all you have known in your 16 months of life, alongside your 49 fellow crew on this godforsaken vessel.
The ship's navigation system is remotely attacked, and your flight crew is unable to discern where they are going. Some outside entity seems to have control of the ship's course. The crew prepares for the worst, and you find your weapon.
You are standing at the main airlock, when it hisses open to attach to a spiky-looking dock. The ship has been guided towards a large garrison station in orbit of a large moon - a station of Those Who Once Were, an intergalactic pirate organisation. You run some data searches on this cartel but you come up short - your connection is rather poor when you're half a system away, you imagine.
Your flight crew forces the ship into lockdown to give everybody time to prepare for perimeter breach. Alarms are blaring, other machines running for their gear. You stand there among your comrades. It's only a matter of time before the pirates get their hands on you, dead or alive. Will you protect your ship? Will you push the lines of warring flesh and bone? Or will you try and escape unnoticed to accomplish something perhaps more nefarious? For now, you have one objective - survive.
