NPCs & Enemies Wall of Flesh Weapon drop rework.

Reason: how many times have you been doing a playthrough and your first wall of flesh kill drops a weapon that is useless for you? and you can't just fight it again right away because now it's hardmode and you have a lot of other stuff to deal with before worrying about the wall of flesh again. and by the time your ready to fight it again you already have better weapons anyway.

IDEA: the FIRST time you fight the wall of flesh it should track the type of damage being done to it, and have a 100% chance to drop the weapon matching what ever damage type it took the most of.

while yes it would be very technical to do, but there are already mods that will track the damage from each player in multi-player (and display it after the boss fight) so it's not that far off in terms of possibility.

Or just have it drop all 5 (I mean 4 shoot calamity) weapons like most mods.

It should also be made shimmerable
Breaker Blade -> Clockwork Assault Rifle
Clockwork Assault Rifle -> Laser Rifle
Laser Rifle -> Firecracker
Firecracker -> Breaker Blade

This seems like a bit of a non issue. Wait for the Guide to respawn, build a house in hell and drop him there/drop the voodoo doll, and summon him. It's not that much work.

This feels the best. Shimmer already lets you switch the emblem, so why not the weapon?

True, but I feel like weapons are more important than emblems.

Then again, emblems combine into lots of useful accessories, while the WoF weapons aren't too useful.

Nevermind, I think WoF weapons should be shimmerable.

The game is designed around getting a random drop. Mods are just there to make it easier if you want, but it ends up being too straightforward and linear like that. No workarounds if you don’t get what you want, just a 100% chance.

So no. For the millionth time, stop going to threads just to say “Calamity does this so Vanilla should too.”

I'm not saying vanilla should because Calamity does, I'm saying Vanilla should because it's straight up :red: design.

What? Randomness? The game— as far as I’m aware— was designed with “take your drop and roll with it” in mind.

Which only works if you don't know :red: about the game

It works if you aren’t minmaxing your damage and stuff.
And how does getting a weapon you simply cannot use without reworking your entire setup useful or fun?

Setup really only matters late game, and by then there’s enough alternatives. You get firecracker from WoF? Make Spider armor and buy a pygmy necklace. Get Breaker Blade? Put on a Power Glove and Melee ore armor.

Switching classes mid game is stupid.
You've just wasted valuable time and effort for... What? Variety? Less damage?

Honestly I wouldn't switch my entire class just because I got one bad roll from a weapon. Fight the boss again lol

Terraria isn't a game that forces you to stick to a class. Until Post-Plantera it's very easy to switch at will.

I would argue that switching classes is easier up until Post-Evil. Queen Bee, Deerclops, and Skeletron all drop class-related things. And the game does reward you for sticking to one class anyway, so might as well.

but why cant you just fight the boss again smh. you-all are talking about classes and whatnot when you can LITERALLY JUST FIGHT TEH GOSHDARN THING A SSECOND TIME IT IS NOT THSTYA HARD

That's just straight up wrong. Hell, at the time you kill Wall of Flesh, the only real build-defining part of your build is your armor set. And believe me, you're going to be fine while using the Clockwork Assault Rifle with Molten Armor instead of Necro Armor, the earth will continue spinning. Not to mention you can shimmer class emblems.

Even in late Hardmode, how many parts of one's build involves "specific" accessories and armor pieces?

  • For Melee speed builds, you have glove stacking and also Celestial Shell, an accessory that provides global damage & survivability increases. You can also shimmer the gloves into Avenger Emblem, a global damage accessory. As for armor, you'll presumably have Beetle Scale Mail, which I guess is pretty specific, but if you want to go from melee speed to tanking, then you can easily shimmer the Scale mail and re-craft it into Shell.
  • For Tank melee builds, you are not concerned with boosting weapons through equipment in the first place.
  • For Ranger builds, you have scope stacking (shimmered into Destroyer Emblem, a global damage accessory) then either Shroomite Armor pieces which can be shimmered into a bunch of Chlorophyte bars, and/or OOA armor pieces, you can't refund/shimmer OOA armor pieces but it's not hard to buy 1-2 different OOA armor pieces.
  • For Magic builds, you mainly have Specter Armor which can be shimmered into a bunch of Spectre and/or Chlorophyte bars, and (the actually relevant) mage accessories mostly only involves emblems.
  • For Summoner builds, basically every build that isn't aiming for full tank heavily benefits from minion slot accessories & armor pieces. You can use whatever weapon alongside minions for high total DPS.
Furthermore, you have Wrath/Rage potions, Well Fed, the aforementioned global damage accessories and Menacing/Lucky reforges that will substantially raise the baseline power of all weapons even if your build focuses on one or two damage types.

Different builds/classes work better in different parts of the game.

In my Master Mode Hardcore run, I went from running full tank Melee for most of the game, to defensive Summoner in mid-hardmode, then back to full tank Melee again in post-cultist or so. But I guess I'm stupid?

why is everyone neglecting the fact that you can just - fight wall of flesh again until you get your desired weapon. I agree with shyguymask though

My point isn't that you can't use it, but that's it's EXTREMELY inefficient to use it.

On what? Classic mode? You'd never do enough damage otherwise.

Your point is good, but it's just uncalled for, you don't need to switch classes ever.
I thought sticking with one weapon type was the Intended way to progress? It just makes sense to not just "Oop, this class is very slightly more effective in this one situation, lemme go spend an hour getting a bunch of other stuff to use it"
