Weird/Uncommon Items or Builds That You Like?

I've been getting back into master mode Terraria. In the past I burned out from the amount of times I played the game to be honest. It's painful now that I'm simultaneously in the mood to play, but not in the mood to "play" so I have a question for anyone reading this.

What are some of your favourite items you enjoy/find a good use for, but are rarely ever obtained or talked about? Generally you gotta go out of your way to find them. Those sort of fringe items that most people either never find, or overlook entirely in every playthrough. They could just be overshadowed items too, for example, people used to always choose Crimson worlds just for the ichor, but I have this fun memory of the cursed fireball spell being what won me my first master mode Plantera.

Here's something off the top of my head: Aqua Scepter. At least personally, I never saw any reason to use this thing over the much superior Water Bolt spell, which is technically easier to obtain. But honestly, it's a really fun spell. If I get any comments, I'll try to think of some more.

while i wouldn't say it fully fits the definition you laid out, i gotta go with the Flying Dragon (i'd say it's uncommon enough to count, though i'll definitely make an "appreciation post" for it like i did with the Charged Blaster Cannon)

the reason for why it's not often used is that it used to only have 90 damage and was presumably quite underwhelming, however in an update (i think one of the earlier 1.4.X updates) it was doubled to 180 damage, matching endgame weapons like the Zenith (190) and Meowmere (200), which actually makes it really good now

as for the behaviour itself, the Flying Dragon can essentially be treated as an altered Terra Blade, having a slower firerate, smaller projectile, and no sword aura, in exchange for higher damage, and, most importantly, the ability for the projectiles to pass through blocks (to my current knowledge, the only other endgame weapons i can name, that have full wallpass capabilities, are the Zenith and Solar Eruption).
this makes the Flying Dragon a very good "generalist" weapon, being usable for things like grinding and exploring (the projectiles emit a lot of light, likely at max brightness too) but also capable of absolutely demolishing enemies.

as for obtaining it, it's a Betsy drop from T3 OOA, which also contributes to its relative scarcity, as from what i've seen most people don't really do OOA, not to mention that it does get significantly harder at this stage since it's post-Golem

also, i relate way too much to this:

It's not a great weapon by any means, but the Medusa Head is really neat.

I personally don't see this one being talked about very often, but how about the Toxikarp? It needs to be fished up in the dangerous Hardmode Corruption, but once you do get your hands on it you have a pretty decent weapon for keeping enemies at bay during the early Hardmode ore grind, and it doesn't use any ammunition. Depending on how long you take to get it you can also fish up some Ebonkoi for Wrath Potions as a freebie

The Chlorophyte Partisan has been getting a bit of attention recently but I think it also works well as a longer range, budget Death Sickle. I think people don't use it much because Chlorophyte Bars are a very valuable resource that can also be used for other useful things like armor, an Extractinator upgrade and especially the True Excalibur, which is a component of the popular Terra Blade (and by extension the Zenith)

This one is more overshadowed than rare (and tends to drop instead of a different item you want) but the Stynger is also a pretty good Golem drop. The Stynger Bolts can be bought from the Arms Dealer or Witch Doctor and they explode into shrapnel that makes them good for crowd control. They work similarly to Crystal Bullets basically, pretty good option against Duke Fishron

The Nail Gun is also a similar weaker weapon dropped by Nailheads, although the nails stick to enemies and then explode. You can buy more Nails from the Merchant or Arms Dealer

i've been looking to try out the Toxikarp but will only get the opportunity to do so later, but either way i'm happy that it's mentioned

Summoning sentries while in WoF fight. A certified "worst thing" to do? More like "Nah, I'd win" with endphase pushing me too far that the only damage dealers were my turrets, desperation whipping and... not summons.

I used Valhalla Knight’s Breastplate on a mage build, alongside a band of myths. The regen was fun on a class with higher ranged power, and I never really struggled with damage output.
