Hey so something weird happened to my oldest save file.
Created and played on Ver. 1.4.4.9 for over 120 hours. Large single-player Classic-Mode world with Corruption. Pre-Hardmode. I don't know if this information will help.
I accidentally saved and quit, so I click to just select the same character and reenter the same world right? Double-clicking to enter the world brought me back to the main menu screen after the "resetting world" or whatever loading screen finished playing instead of loading the world. I thought nothing of it and did the same. It actually dropped me into the world this time, at a western ocean base where I logged out from (again, unsure if this information will help or not), but my minimap in the corner was completely blacked out again and only filled in a small space to the left of my character when I moved around.
I hit alt + F4 to hard quit the game and rebooted it. Zero issues with joining the world this time. However I notice my pylon network is suddenly missing from the map, because I was trying to get back to the world center. the pylons weren't transparent as if I was standing in front of an invalid one or was too far away from a pylon. They were completely missing. Breaking and replacing all my pylons fixed THAT issue.
However when I returned to the western ocean to continue what I was doing, I found I couldn't interact whatsoever with the golden chests full of items I had placed down. Breaking them revealed there was nothing inside them anymore. Their former contents were all extra quest fish. I hard quit the world again and reset my device hoping to resolve the issue.
The chests were still in the same state upon rebooting the device and restarting Terraria. In addition, I had a series of weapon racks nearby and all of the items displayed in them were missing. A tile-high row of water in an area I was draining returned as if I had never turned it into obsidian earlier.
Then I returned to the center of my world to check my storage there, but all the chests in this region were still functional and contained everything they had before. However, my armor collection was culled just like the chests. The mannequin bodies disappeared with their armor from the pedestals, and I am unable to interact with the area they used to stand in.
I do not know what else may be missing or culled because of this. Is there a way to restore what was lost? Attached are images of the carnage after I had recognized that the world was bugged.
Edit: Also attached is a copy of the world file as suggested by the first comment.
A second edit: I had rebuilt a little on the world since this happened and there was an instance where water got into a structure I'm building. I just now hopped in to check on everything and the water I bailed out is back, in addition to blocks I placed AFTER I bailed the water out. My new question is if the world itself is just defunct now and I've got to start over with a new file if this continues? I've attached new screenshots of the structure before I logged out and after I checked it out just now down below after the .wld file of this phenomenon.
A THIRD edit, dear lord: I have just discovered that whatever this was ALSO reset my beastiary. Is there any way I can restore that too? The game seems to still be keeping track of monster kills, but the kill count for the monsters and logs for which NPCs I have on the actual Beastiary page has been completely wiped. Screenshots attached showing this anomaly now too ToT
