I'd recommend Revengeance. The last time I played Death Mode it didn't have those strange, obnoxious environmental debuffs in virtually every biome like it was trying to emulate the similarly obnoxious Masochist (Eternity now?) Mode from Fargo's. Of course, this is a personal issue because it just gives me even more mechanics I need to juggle alongside the vanilla and base Calamity mechanics, but it could be a chore for many people too.

My first playthrough was on Rev, and it was pretty pleasant except for some bosses that took a lot of time to get used to. (Mainly Cryogen)
