Good luck. Also, when you fish, take a chest with you, and place it down where you stand. Every time you catch a quest fish, put it in the chest and fish again, you'll get the same quest fish before long. Once you have 5 quest fish, leave four fish in the chest and return the fifth to the angler for the reward, as per normal. Then, exit to the main menu and go back into that world with another character, go to the chest, get one of the other quest fish, go to the angler, get the reward, and repeat. You can do this 5 times a day, meaning 5 times the rewards, upping your chance of a hotline rod...

No - my main one spawns from the bed, the others spawn outside of the base (which is unreachable for most Pre-Hardmode people that don't have Grappling Hooks)

Safe and piggy bank hold as many as you can fit and would let you move them to your base.

Try making an AFK farm in the Hallow (don't use statues - you won't get anything from them)

It takes time and patience. I've gotten the Hallow, Jungle, and Frozen Key Molds, but not the Corruption or Crimson ones - I've spent a while on Corruption.
