What is the most underrated weapons that you like using?

MoultonLava

Torch God
Starting off, there are many weapons available in Terraria. Some good, some bad. Than, there are underrated ones that slip under the radar. Here are a few that I can think of:
Stake Launcher: This weapon is cracked. It has 7 piercing, high fire rate, and high damage. It is busted for both crowds and single targets, and its ammo is cheap and easy to get.
Aerial Bane: This weapon, while it is hard to aim, is amazing. It has increased damage on foes that are flying, and each arrow splits into 5 more. I have seen someone take out Master Mode Duke Fishron in just 9 shots.
Cursed Darts: These darts are incredible for events and some bosses. They rain cursed drops from the sky, and are really good against the Destroyer.
Hive-Five: This thing is busted. If you beat Queen Bee early, like pre-evil boss, this weapon shreds the rest of Pre-Hardmode. Skeletron? Destroyed. WoF? Destroyed, but the Nights Edge is better. Deerclops? Annihilated.
If you can think of any more, I'd like to know!

Chain Guillotines, Christmas Tree Sword and Stellar Tune are all weapons that I like using quote a lot, and ones that I'd consider underrated, personally.

True. the Guillotines are great against the mechs, and the Stellar Tune is a blast to use. I used it on my mage playthrough, it was worth the empress fights!

agreed on both
Chain Guillotines are just a huge vibe to use, even if their overall stats are just "okay" from what i've seen
as for the Stellar Tune, it's also a huge vibe to use, the damage and wallpass is great, the only problem i have with it is that it drinks mana like a top fuel drag car

and seeing that the Aerial Bane has been mentioned, i'll throw in another Betsy weapon: Flying Dragon my beloved
man it is overpowered, it's basically an altered/rebalanced Terra Blade that has lower and constant fire rate, and a somewhat smaller projectile, in exchange for higher damage and wallpass which i think is a great tradeoff overall
the TB could possibly get more DPS with its insane firerate, but if someone doesn't want to spec into attack speed (or just runs a more generalist build) the FD will actually out-DPS it in a lot of cases

Yep. Not to forget about the Betsy's Wrath, which not only des surprisingly high DPS for a support weapon, it also inflicts a devastating debuff that reduces defense by 40. The OOA army weapons are super underrated, especially the Phantom Phoenix and Tome of Infinite Wisdom. ToiW's right click deals insane damage to Destroyer and its left click is a good option for Plantera. The Phoenix is a unique and powerful weapon, capable of easily beating Plantera and does insanely well against the OOA.

Um, uh… I haven’t really used an underrated item in a while. unless the skeleton whip you get is underrated
I guess the ice staff i believe it’s called because it can really be helpful against the twins/ queen slime and I never hear anyone talk about it.

DDU Katana. It may not be as powerful as the Daybreak is on some platforms, but it's still a really good post-Plantera True Melee weapon.
I also like using the Life Drain, and the Beam Sword and Frostbrand. The former is a good mage weapon, especially against multiple targets, and the latter two are great against the Twins when playing as Melee.

Any pre hardmode flail, though unless you mean 'people don't use it because it's kinda bad' then that doesn't really count I guess.

honestly flails in general are pretty busted ngl, apparently their displayed damage value is inflated or something like that but even then they're great
but i do agree that it's mainly the pre-hardmode flails this applies to, though in early hardmode the Drippler Crippler is great (idk about the Dao of Pow or the Flower Pow, but personally i haven't heard of people talk about them a lot)

Here's a few of my favourites that I don't see mentioned much:
  • Both of the evil biome mimic mage weapons (life drain is very good crowd control in early to mid hardmode, clinger staff is incredibly good on invasions and can be used with any build)
  • Resonance Sceptre - pretty fun to use, works well on both single targets and crowd control, annoying to get though
  • Elf Melter - since the buff in 1.4.4 this thing is pretty great, solid damage output and good crowd control
Most of these are less "people think this weapon is bad" and more "this weapon gets overlooked in favour of more popular options"

Pulse bow is fun to play with, albeit a bit niche.
I also really like using the stynger and the stardust cell staff (but I hardly play summoner :/)

abigales flower on a non summoner playthough. the thing is op when playing summoner the right way, but if you are using a summon in the background abigales flower is near useless, but i never switch until i get the hornet or imp a lot later on

cobalt naginata

Wooden sword (i think it’s underrated)

its overrated just skip to the Blade of Grass /j

Clinger Staff cheeses OOA. I am not joking, it makes one side totally safe and not a threat. Combined with the Rainbow Gun on the other side, you are invincible to all normal enemies. The Scepter is pretty good, and I really like the Elf Melter.

I'm not sure what the common opinion on the Flamelash is, and it's been years since that run, but I did have a playthrough where the Flamelash absolutely carried. I was shocked at how good it was. The damage output was extremely nice, and having both homing and the capability to follow the mouse made it retain it's usefulness into mid-hardmode. Even if you aren't playing mage, it's great to keep in your back pocket.

All the static magic weapons. Doesn't matter the playthrough. Crimson Rod, Nimbus Rod, Clinger Staff, Rainbow Gun. They can sit and screen out annoying chaff while you do something else, and they're a direct add to any damage you do with your main weapon to bosses. Running back and forth from Prime? Run back and forth through two rain columns. Trap a miniboss on top of a cursed flame column and watch them melt, or make them walk across 50 blocks of rainbow beam. While you shoot/stab/blast them as you normally would.

I like using the snowball cannon (thing you place and shoot snowballs in one direction)

Bladetongue.

Most people go "eeew, fishing" or "just wait until a True weapon", but Bladetongue is so ludicrously awesome, even after the update to most of the swords. The defense debuff alongside the piercing projectile it fires can really rack up the damage, and outside of maybe something like a Fetid Baghnahks, I can think of no faster way to kill Destroyer that doesn't involve cheesing him with traps.

It's an all-around awesome weapon that stays on my hotbar from the moment I enter hardmode and go fish it up (which is generally one of the very first things I do assuming I have Crimson or a Drunk World) until Terra Blade. Now, granted, I don't use it against Everything, but for general use, killing mobs, etc, it holds up pretty well, even on Solar Eclipse (making the enemies glow and the piercing projectile helps too).
