Just chilling whilst waiting for the 1.4 console update, so since I have been power playing Terraria a lot, i am curious to know what is your favourite invasion event and why, I love all of them personally, but my personal favourite is the Lunar Events because of the fact it is the only invasion event that is mandatory and has to be defeated in order to progress the game, the enemies are all unique and cool looking and not mention tough and fun as well as challenging to fight, the background music is awesome plus the background itself becomes really gnarly.

Also is this the right place for this I am still a newbie here and this is my first thread, so yeah sorry if its in the wrong place.

Literally right when I got out of pre-hardmode, the pirate invasion happened. Not a fun time.

Ah, yes that happens occasionally. Coming out of pre-hard mode, I once was attacked by Skeletron Prime, on my first night. The next morning pirates sent a raid at me. The following night the destroyer decided to play. A morning of calm gave way to a blood moon.

Yeah. But the thing is is that I had a blood moon with the invasion, and then I had a solar eclipse the next day. Terraria hates me.

Or perhaps it loves you. Exceedingly. With a tough love.

Granted, if you were able to get a useful weapon out of any of them, it was not without merit.

I like the pirate invasion. fun theme, nice drops, cool miniboss

Yes, I like it as well. The cutlass is always a drop I search for after I transition to hard-mode.

Being away from the game for a while, my taste has somewhat changed. I'm gonna have to go with the Solar Eclipse Event. 🤔🥤

This isn't to suggest I don't still love Pirates and OOA, just that, considering where the game is now (1.4+), it's the most reasonably challenging if the level of Player Power is being considered. Also, I really like fighting Mothron in all-that-chaos; Bosses that get more troublesome over time, depending on the circumstance, can really get the adrenaline pumping!

Yeah that happened to me one or twice, and it caught me off guard but I like the pirates cause theyre one of the few actual human enemies you fight, the loot they drop is cool, and they drop an absolute ton of cash when killed. Also Toxiphile, the Solar Eclipse is cool I love the horror themed enemies and that although the dakrness is kinda off putting and it lasts longer than any other event does which means it gets kinda tedious for me after a while, but I do like the Solar Eclipse.

Also for the record I do like the Martian Madness now, I used to hate it cause I found it tedious and annoying cause of how long it took, plus I used to never be able to kill the Martian Saucer until a while back, now I like fighting them but the Martian Saucer scares me cause of how nasty that secondary beam is, you wouln't believe how many times I got fried by that, ouch.

Truth-be-told, I still suck at the Martian Invasion! 😂🥤 Ever since hiding under a rock stopped being a valid strategy, I haven't developed a newer one. It's ok though, because Martians are so rare for me (every playthrough I've ever done), that I don't mind them being the reason my death-count drastically increases.

Same, the Saucer is a pain in the :red: excuse my french, kinda glad the second phase is only in Expert and Master as of 1.4, makes my life a lot easier.

Also guys I got some sad news, I need to take a couple of days off my grandpa/granddad my dad's dad has just pssed away, sorry if this is too personal mods, but I am just letting you all know that I need to take a day or two off to grieve and get it out of my system, which is why I might go quiet, but I might still post if I am up for it, but no promises, so yeah see ya in a few days, i guess....

I am sorry to hear that about your GrandFather. Take as much time as you need.

Yes, perhaps.

Of course, if you would like someone to talk to at some point, I would be more than happy to assist in that role.

Good choice, also, let's not forget the laser drill as well.
Ok, Im back, I haven't gotten over Granddad's passing, but I will in time, we are working on that right now, but I'll be ok now, I think, on another note. 1 week until 1.4 comes out on console.

If you check the Blood Moon wiki page you'll see it does a lot more than you might think, I'm particularly fond of the environmental features like tinted water and glowing mushrooms. That said, I think it's more of an event than an invasion, as there is no percentage bar at the bottom of the screen. I keep forgetting the Frost Legion exists as well.

I personally don't really like any of them... I don't know, I find the concept of invasions more tedious than anything, dealing with a lot of enemies with no real consequences...
Old One's Army is kinda an exception to that, because it somewhat changes the rules to make it a bit more strategic, which in turn makes it more fun to deal with the high number of enemies...
It also has an actual fail condition... not to mention, that unlike a lot of other events, you actually get to choose when to do them...

I hate a lot of the events because they can appear before you are actually ready for them, and because defeat is inconsequential, balance is thrown out of the window... but that doesn't make it fun to wait for that respawn timer again and again and again...

Anyway, another thing I found is that the Old One's Army is way more fun with a friend because of the team coordination, and if you are good at it, it feels like running a well oiled machine, designing cool setups in even cooler arenas, spawning sentries at there dedicated spaces, taking care of your delegated side of the arena, exchanging etherian mana... It's really fun.

Take all the time you need, nobody expects you to be here if you feel like you don't have the strength right now. You and your family are more important than any stranger on the internet right now.

This is one of the many reasons why I sometimes suggest that Terrarians try playing the game on various modes and settings. I can assure you, playing with a Medium/ Hardcore Character will change your mind about invasions. I can't say for sure if they'd be more or less enjoyable, only that the threat/ sense of danger they're supposed to impose on the Player, is a bit more realized/ undeniable. 🤔🥤

It's tougher to see the value that invasions add, until the threat of them is properly imposed, for example:
  1. You can't run away from most of them, at least not like other standard enemy types.
  2. Until they're defeated, they'll continually disrupt your ability in interact with most Township features/ NPCs.
  3. They're a nice addition when observing build diversity, as piercing attacks become King in most of these Events.
There's obviously more, like being a change of pace from standard Bosses and the like, but I think I've made my point.
