goblin tinkerer is a pain to get but the most useful out of every npc in the game

In terms of personality, I'd say the Guide. Really friendly, and helpful for when I'm too lazy to use the wiki.

In terms of usefulness, Goblin Tinkerer for obvious reasons.

LEAST FAVORITES

In terms of personality, Zoologist. For one - the fanart is -uh - uh its something. Also I'm a certified furry hater

In terms of usefulness, I'd say the Pirate. Just doesn't do anything.

Favourite: Probably Witch Doctor. I like his weird dialogue and sales.

Least Favourite: Stylist. She’s that “popular girl” stereotype. I hate Haley from Stardew Valley too because of this.

Zoologist is my favorite NPC.

It's cool to see the concept of werewolves applied to new species. In this case being a werefox. Her personality is very funny, and she's the NPC to go to for Bestiary-related progression which is one of my favorite features in Terraria.

My favorite is a close tie between the Wizard and Traveling Merchant. I absolutely love the wizards dialog, and have fond memories of first finding him back on Xbox 360. The Traveling Merchant I like because I vividly remember hearing that you can actually get NPCs to stay in Terraria, and then proceeding to attempt to build a house around him before he could despawn (I was very young, lol). Dryad is an honorable mention, she's an og, and I love plants.

My favorite is the Guide. He's the only one who openly gives you permission to kill him
"When you are ready to challenge the keeper of the underworld, you will have to make a living sacrifice. Everything you need for it can be found in the underworld."

I consider that permission.

I think this might be a bit obvious with my profile picture, but for me personally it's the Guide. I just think he's neat

People joke about him opening the doors at night a lot but he has such a mysterious aura to him. He clearly knows way more than he lets on and I think his connection to the Wall of Flesh is genuinely interesting. I use his Crafting service a lot too, saves so many visits to the wiki
Similar thoughts on the Clothier (and Skeletron), he's my second favorite

The Zoologist has been my favorite to keep around since 1.4 dropped. As a furry, having an anthro character around who also sells animal tails and headbands is really nice. Dryad is another favorite, but really only because of Zilem's Dryad Deer texture pack, which is super cute.

As for pure functionality, I could not survive without the Painter.

If I had to choose *a* favorite, it would be the Stylist or Dryad. That makes me think, though, does anyone else have a favorite/one that just makes them happy to be around?

Stylist seems like she would be a cool person to hang around. I like to HC she secretly has expertise in nails and makeup as well, and would probably give the player a manicure or something during downtime. Just a thought.

Dryad seems like she would enjoy sculpting (another HC of mine). I would think she does pottery with the player from time to time. Maybe they make flowery vases, I don’t know. Seems like a nice time.
