What's the deal with "Cheating attempt detected" and can it be turned off?

It seems to dislike us very much. We're playing on our own server and even pouring a bucket of water is considered "liquid spam", or fighting things with an onyx blaster might lead to kick for "projectile spam". How can this be turned off?

Afaik it is off by default, one of you must have enabled it.
Find and open "serverconfig.txt" in terraria folder
If there's lines inside that look like this

#Adds addition cheat protection.
secure=1

change to

#Adds addition cheat protection.
#secure=1

Afaik it only affects network spamchecks, but it might affect something else too. Use at own risk etc.
