NPCs & Enemies When Biomes Clash

I liked the idea until the whole 'joining sides with one of the factions' part.
I do really love the whole idea of things like the corruption and the hallow being at each others throats though, that does seem realistic in Terraria's sense.
With the other biomes attacking mobs if they strayed into a different biome than their own like Ice vs Desert I can understand. Although I feel like all biomes should attack Crimson/Corruption as they are a plague on the world.

The thought of teaming up with the corruption just seems out of place in Terraria. The Corruption and Crimson are things that want to spread over the world and no pun intended corrupt it, they want to destroy and devour everything in their path and i doubt they'd care what some human has to say to them.
I just cant imagine humans working with the crimson or corruption, the literal banes of the world.

I also always thought the reason the hallow creatures attack you is because they're mad you unleashed the full potential of the crimson/corruption, I don't particularly like the idea of straight up having them fight along side you, but maybe if you were to kill a lot of crimson/corruption mobs or cleanse parts of the world of it they would forgive you and could be passive unless provoked.

The Hallow is an evil, don't let its rainbows fool you.

Also this post is what I had to throw at relations, some agree with everything, some agree with only parts of it and I am ok with it, its a suggestion, and when it comes to suggestions I suggest everything possible.

In theory with your idea, If you summoned the Frost Legion, And then the Wall Of Flesh, Would they be forced to fight each other? I mean Fire and Ice are true opposites. (Basically what I'm asking is: Wouldn't it be possible to pit two bosses against each other?)

Like I said, bosses ignore and are ignored.

I like the concept, hope that if it is added, it works out correctly. Support.
I hope so too, thanks for the support!

I really like the idea, I'm not completely certain on how much I like joining a faction (In theory its nice, but I'm not sure how well it would work in-game), but overall this idea is really cool.

It would be nice to watch a small scale skirmish between beautiful creatures of the fabulous purple corruption battle the terrifying disgusting unicorns and fairies

I'd love this but I can only picture the devs coding all of this in, I imagine this being difficult on them.

I already voiced support for this on TO, and I'm not about to change that. Because dammit, I want to live in Corruption. :V

(that and inter-faction battles are just fun)

Hello and welcome to another suggestion of mine!
Today we will be discussing the relations between the various mobs of Terraria.

So Unicorn, what can you tell us about Floaty Gross?
- "Well he's a huge D*&$! I hate everything about him, and I don't ever want to see him again! Why do I even work with him to destroy the player?! I don't even care about the player!"
- Now now, calm down. I am sure-
- "What did you just say about me?! Know what? Go back to your colorful happy place where everything is puking rainbows!"
- "Oh so that's how it is?! ITS ON!"

- Guys! Guys! Please! Let us just-
- "Oh I'll show you!"

So back on topic, I always wondered why all the mobs in Terraria are so obsessed with destroying the player that they ignore each other.
The corruption are the hallow are clearly enemies, why do they cooperate?
I think this should be changed, and given some flavor.

The creature of Terraria should start reacting to each other and acting differently at each others presence, for instance, if there is a Soul Eater and a player near a Gastropod, he will first focus on killing the Soul Eater, then the player.
But they shouldn't be dumb while reacting to enemies, they should know whenever they have a chance against a certain mob or not.
Also mobs will flee when they are low on health or are overpowered by the player, unless they are brainless undead, a boss or an invasion mob.

-Example:
There are 3 mobs around the player, a Corruptor, a Pixie and a purple slime.
♦ The Corruptor will first try to kill the Pixie, then the player, and then the slime.
♣ The Pixie is overpowered by the Corruptor, so she will either ignore him and attack the player or will flee, and then if the Corruptor is not present, she will attack the player then the slime.
♠ The slime doesn't care, he will just hop around until something hits him, then he will focus on that thing that hit him.

Mobs drops are also effected by how much damage the player dealt to that mob, but some special items would drop regardless of that.
♦ 75% of total HP = max drops
♥ 25% of total HP = no drops excluding special items
Note: This does not effect drop chance calculation in any way, the calculation and the actual drop are calculated separately

-The basic relations would be:
Corruption x Hallow
Crimson x Hallow
Crimson x Corruption*
*Although they both rivals with hallow, they still fight over territory and resources, therefore they should also hate each other.

-Advanced relations of non-evil biomes:
Crimson x Corruption x Hallow x Everything
Hell x Everyone
Jungle x Mushrooms
Dungeon x Everyone
Sea x Everyone (Sharks kill everything that moves, Crabs simply protect themselves and Jellyfish just float around and sing anyone who gets too close)
Undead x Everything except for other Undead (By undead I refer mainly to underground undead)
Ice x Desert

♥ Invasions, solar eclipses and moons also fight anything except bosses
♦ Bosses ignore mobs and are ignored by mobs unless they are tied together (Brain of Cthulhu and Creepers)
♣ The purity/overworld/forest counts as unclaimed neutral territory, therefore ignores anyone but the player, same about the sky/space.

Also biome battles may occur after hardmode, but only between Corruption, Hallow and Crimson and only once a Terrarian week.
Their rarity is based on the occupation rate of the world, and the stronger faction will be invading the weaker faction.
Example: World is 49% Hallow, 30% Corrupt and 50% Crimson
♥ There is a high chance a battle between the Hallow and the Crimson will happen, and Crimson will be invading Hallow.
♦ A battle has begun!
♣ Crimson mobs start spawning on Hallow biomes, spawn rates and max spawns are drastically increased.

-Now where does the player come in?
The player has a choice whether to intervene or not, so he can pretty much decide who will win the battle by killing mobs from a specific faction or simply going on a rampage and killing everything in sight.

-What does the winning side gains?
It takes over a percentage of the lost biomes territory, thus gaining a spread bonus and becoming stronger.

-Okay, but what other interaction may the player have with these biomes?
The player could ally himself with a certain faction and gain perks depending on his rank and which faction he joined.
To do so, you will have to summon the factions ambassador, and for every biome he looks different.
To summon the ambassador you will need to craft an ambassadors sash with 10 silk, 1 solution for that biome and 3 beetle husks to make sure its post Golem.
Once he is summoned, you must talk to him, he would ask you to kill the ambassador for another faction (If you asked Crimson, he would either ask to kill the Hallowed or the Corrupt ambassador), and once you did so he will occupy a vacant house in your town and you will officially become a member of that faction.

-Okay so how do I advance my rank?
♥ By asking the ambassador for quests.
You can ask for a quest once a day, and it will range from killing mobs from rivaling faction to getting some resources to spreading further your factions biome.
He will not ask for impossible tasks like killing Corruptors when there is no corruption present.
♦ By killing any boss, and depending on which boss you killed you will gain points.
What if you kill the boss for your faction? You kill the king, you become the king.
♣ Killing mobs in general increases your points by a tiny bit, but then again, if you killed 1,000,000 pixies, you got 1,000,000 points.

So what kind of perks may I gain?
♥ You will get certain buffs when inside your biomes faction, and the buffs depend on the biome you are in.
Corruption = Defensive
Crimson = Offensive
Hallow = Balanced
♦ You could hire mobs to help you in battle.
♣ You would get a special buff which increases your stats when you reach a specific rank which also scales with further ranks. Higher rank = Stronger buff.
♠ You will gain access to special items which you won't be able to get other wise.
• And you can get NPCs to live in that biome! They will complain about it, but they will simply have to deal with it and move on.:dryadmad:

-Wow this is actually pretty good!
Glad you enjoyed!
Now Floaty Gross and Unicorn can fight freely! (If its implemented)

-How may I support the idea?!
You can by using the following banner in your signature, and if you wish to add a direct link to the image, just send me a PM and I will guide you through the process!

Hope you enjoyed!
Feedback is appreciated and have a nice day!
That would be impossible to code... The devs would go nuts. Anybody here know how hard it is to code? It is so damn hard.

How do you know?
What makes you so sure about it?
Have to delved into the depths of the code and looked through the engine? I doubt it.

I can imagine my self in a battle killing stuff with benefits of battle potions and water candles
