When do you fight Duke Fishron?

But seriously. After like 5 won battles, it becomes easy, and then you should easily be able to just kill the fish right after the wall, and then you essentially start off hardmode with weapons of Post-Golem strength!

i usually don't unless i want razorblade typhoon or am filling out a trophy room. everything else on that tier i want drops from empress or betsy
 
Duke Fishron is a hard boss, but I know the patterns. Me and my friends tried Post-Mech DF, and we didn't do to bad. I generally do it Post Plantera, but I have tried doing it Pre-Plantera. It is a fun and rewarding fight. It also removes any difficulty until the Pillars.
 
I do it post mech but its a fun fight as long as you have enough truffle worms.
Oh yeah did i tell everyone i don’t really use potions (except healing and mana potions)?
 
Recently I've been doing it in between the cultist and the moon lord, so I can use pillar weapons on it but still have the shrimpy truffle for the moon lord fight. These are hardcore run strats though, in a softcore playthrough I'd fight it anywhere from post-mech to pre-cultist.
 
You guys fight Duke? I suck too much to kill him pre-Plantera, and from there brute force is enough to get pillar weapons. I might use those to kill him for the Truffle, but even then Soaring Insignia + Wings is more my speed.

I agree, but Fishron Wings absolutely carried against ML in my multiplayer game we did a while ago. The sheer power of them with the Insignia is incredible, as the mobility they grant is unmatched. However, I do see why most wouldn't approach him with a 30 foot pole before Plantera.

The fishron wings are matched (and arguably outclassed) by the shrimpy truffle. And if you're killing the empress for the insignia you may as well grind for empress wings instead of fishron, they are better/equal in every category except flight time which doesn't matter with the insignia.
 
I mostly fight Empress instead, but when I do fight Duke, it’s often post-Plantera. I try not to use pillar weapons, so EoL’s drops are some of my main choices against ML.
 
If you can get the queen slime mount it really helped me doing it pre plantera so if you are having trouble ir recommend. I repeatedly say this but its also really good with the bundle of balloons, as long as your willing to do the annoying crafting tree that requires you to fish if your unlucky.
