* Greetings everyone! I am making a separate topic for worldbuilding stuff regarding Undertale AUs, simply as so I can talk about them without it getting buried in unrelated stuff. For worldbuilding stuff for non-Undertale AUs, go to my regular Worldbuilding Thread. It is still going to be there for those who are interested in my other worlds.
* Both AUs are quite different but to reduce the amount of threads I have the two get to share a thread for both being Undertale related. I'd even say the two Frisks are quite literally two different people outside of sharing the same name at this point.
* Anyway, time to introduce them so you can know how they're different, and other things.
The Logo I made for the AU.
When Timelines Collide (abbreviated as WTSC) is a crossover AU between Toby Fox's two games, Undertale and Deltarune, and is where after a pacifist route, Frisk decides to download a mod for the game developed by who would later be Viola, their friend who went missing on Mount Ebott about roughly 2 surface years prior. This mod created a new timeline where the War Between Humans and Monsters never happened & adds in several quality of life changes that include the two primary cities in this setting: The monster-dominated Cody, and the human-dominated Monte Ville.
Frisk decided to retire as the player character and cast the Player, who takes the form of a color-changing butterfly & goes by "Ruby", out. Forced to find a new player character/host, she picked Kris, a biological relative of Frisk and the second adoptive child of the Dreemurr Family (first being Chara & Asriel being the only biological child). Supposedly, this would be the perfect happy ending, but as the two cities are clearly rivals with each other, and once dark rifts show up as people began to disappear, the two cities blamed each other. Kris & Ruby are then forced to navigate a world downloaded with a mod that happened to have a virus, and eventually face-to-faec against the checksum, alongside the two other heroes of Light.
The story is extremely meta as you can tell from my summary, and is about a mod being downloaded on a game. I made a document on the AU on AO3 for more in-depth lore info, a dedicated discord server, and I'm planning to write this as a Web Comic series or Graphic Novel in the near-future (later this year).

The Cursed Underground (abbreviated as TCU) is quite literally a post-neutral (specifically the Betrayed Undyne ending) sequel of Undertale if Undertale was set in the Prime Universe, aka the Void Dimension (a non-fandom, worldbuilding project of mine set in a post-apocalyptic alternate future of our reality). It is set about 2 years after the day of the last light, and after 7 more humans have fallen since this AU's Frisk. Here, the AU is meta in a different way from When Timelines Collide, and has no concept of Saving, Resetting, Reloading, or game mechanics, and is quite realistic in how the world works. The version of the Prime Universe is almost identical to the canon Prime Universe but humans can have traited souls, though they last shorter than Undertale human souls, and the six souls Asgore had prior to the king's death vanished from decay.
The new, evil king who replaced Asgore now had to collect six additional souls prior to the seventh one, and unlike Asgore, was pretty brutal about it. He was also cruel to his own people, and overtime, the food reserves & quality of life for monsterkind diminished. I haven't given this character a name or designed him yet but I'd imagine he'd probably be some kind of lion/bat monster (name suggestions are welcome).
And after the day of the last night (November 20th), this made matters worse as food became much harder to grow on the increasingly cold & hostile surface. Six of the humans had already fallen by this point, and the seventh would fall 2 years later. A preteen of the name Abby recently got into public school after being homeschooled their entire life was walking to school when they were attacked by unkonwn, hostile entities, and was chased around until they climbed a mountain, and fell into the Underground, where they found Flowey, who was immune to the sudden, infestation that came there a year prior due to not having a soul. The two were forced to work together in a cursed Underground.
Unlike WTSC, there is no dedicated Discord server, and the AU is going to be in a literature format. I'm currently slowly wanting to worldbuild before deciding to set out on a more clear story. I do have a discord server for the Void Dimension, though. There's other differences from the canon Void Dimension, but for now I'd rather leave it up for your speculation.
* If you would like to join any mentioned Discord servers, feel free to PM me for the invite link. I will also be posting Art of either AU on this thread. Questions are free to be asked, as well.
