These are a bunch of different ways to play through the game, some much harder than others. All playthroughs allow using Old One's Army sentries during the event, and any armor/accessories (though you're encourage to used thematic armor/accessories.

This playthrough uses only weapons that have cold, ice, and christmas themes. It struggles with Wall of Flesh and Plantera/Golem.

The snow biome gives tons of great stuff at the beginning: Flinx Staff, Snowball Cannon, Ice Blade, Boreal Wood bow, Frostburn Arrows, Frost Daggerfish, etc.

Things slow down after that, and Wall of Flesh is a major challenge. But then hardmode gives great weapons like the Ice Rod, Frostbrand, Cool Whip and Flower of Frost, which are good enough for some of the mechanical bosses. Amarok might be able to last until Plantera if used with fire gauntlet, flask of ichor and yoyo bag. The Frost Hydra is great, although won't carry you by itself.

If you can make it to Frost Moon, then you're great. Chain Gun with Chlorophyte Bullets, North Pole, Snowman Cannon, etc. are enough to take you to the end of the game.

This playthrough uses weapons with a 'hot' theme, including Desert weapons, Underworld weapons, Cursed Flame, Shadowflame, etc.

It starts off with a lot of options from the desert (including palmwood bow with Burning Arrows, Storm Spear and Thunder Zapper), as well as the flaming mace and Wand of Sparking. Once you can make it to the underworld, you can grab a ton of great weapons (Sunfury, Flamelash, Phoenix Blaster, Hellwing Bow).

In early hardmode, Corruption players can grab a tome of Cursed Flames. The three Shadowflame weapons become available. The flamethrower is good against Plantera, and the Desert Tiger Staff + Firecracker can easily take down Golem, who drops the helpful Heat Ray. Or, you can use the Phantom Phoenix with Holy or Chlorophyte arrows up to almost engame. The events give us the Elf Melter and Besty's Wrath. Finally, you can wrap things up with Solar Eruption and Daybreak.

This uses items themed with air, weather and space.

Starting off, there's not much here. The Thunder Zapper and Storm Spear can get you going, but it's when you get a Space Gun or a Star Fury that things really take off. Those two can take you into hardmode. Once there, Sky Fracture can carry you to a Rainbow Rod, letting you get a Rainbow Gun and defeat Golem. Once you get the Martian Invasion items, those should carry you until the end game.

This uses items themed with ground, stone, crystals, and ore (not including Crimtane) and gems.

This one's pretty easy for the most part. A diamond staff can go to Hardmode, and a titanium repeater can take you very far. Near the end, though, it struggles, especially against the Moon Lord. Golem drops Golem's Fist and the Staff of Earth. Perhaps the best option is the 'terra' blade, which at least has an earth-like name.

This uses items found in Water chests or with water themes (like Pirate drops).

The Trident and Swordfish, Crimson Rod and Minishark can get you through Skeletron, but then Water Bolt and Aqua Scepter carry you to Hardmode. There you can get the Anchor and other ocean drops, but more importantly Golden Shower, Toxikarp, Bladetongue or Crystal Serpent.

Megashark will handle most of the rest of the game until you can get Duke Fishron drops, where Tsunami finishes everything off. Piranha Gun can possibly help with Fishron.

Nimbus Rod is useful throughout.

This uses items where the wiki entry could say 'this item (or its name) is a reference to...from the game/tv show/film/comic/legendary/etc.'.

This includes the Enchanted Boomerang and Enchanted Sword for starters. Later on you can grab the Quad Barrel Shotgun (from the movie Phantasm). The Flower of Fire, although not optimal, can defeat the Wall of Flesh, although it's probably better to use Spinal Tap against the Wall of Flesh with Obsidian Armor.

In Hard Mode, you can use Cool Whip and Breaker Blade. The Flower of Frost is good enough to defeat Queen Slime and the Twins on Classic Mode. But the Sergeant United Shield is probably one of the best out there.

Almost all Yo-Yos are references to real life Yo-Yos, so Yelets can be used to defeat Plantera and Golem. All Dungeon Defender items are crossovers, and those are enough to beat the rest of the game. Meowmere is the strongest.

This uses items associated with evil, including Crimson and Corruption items and Halloween items.

The game starts off with the Shadewood or Ebonwood bow/sword, and proceeds to things like Vilethorn and Crimson Rod or the weapons you can craft from Eye of Cthulhu drops (like Artery or Demon Bow). The Book of Skulls is good, but Demon Scythe or the Hellwing Bow are probably your best weapons pre-hardmode. Imp Staff with Spinal Tap is a great combo.

In Hardmode, the corrupt and crimson mimic drops are incredibly powerful, able to take you up to the Solar Eclipse, where you can get the Death Sickle, Nail Gun, or similar powerful weapons. The Possessed Hatchet, an evil-sounding weapon, can help you with Pumpkin Moon to get things like Bat Scepter or Stake Launcher, then defeating the evil Betsy gives you endgame-worthy weapons like Aerial Bane.

This uses Hallow items as well as holy and things with 'enchanted' or 'magic' in the name.

The enchanted sword and enchanted boomerang are good starter weapons. Unfortunately, Magic Missile is pretty much your only option for most of Pre-Hardmode.

In Hardmode, you get the Daedalus Stormbow as well as Sky Fracture (made from Light Shards and souls of light). Later you get the Rainbow Gun and Unicorn Mount (good for using the Hallowed Jousting Lance), but more importantly the Hallowed Repeater with Holy Arrows. The Empress of Light's Drops finish the game.

This uses plant-based weapons.

In pre-hardmode, wood weapons (and blowgun seeds) can get you to the Jungle, where you can get things like Thorn Chakram and Blade of Grass. People have beaten Wall of Flesh with just a Blowgun before, but Snapthorn with Obsidian Armor might be the best choice.

In Hardmode, you can use Flower of Frost or (somewhat bending the rules) Uzi, which drops from a plant. If desperate, you can farm Clowns for the powerful Bananarang.

Then Yelets, Chlorophyte, Plantera drops, and Razorpine can finish the game.

This uses animal-based weapons.

Minishark, Swordfish, Frost Daggerfish and Summons in pre-hardmode gives way to the Bee weapons and the Hellwing bow.

In Hardmode, you have Obsidian Swordfish, Toxikarp, Crystal Serpent and Bladetongue, followed by Megashark/Gatligator. The Wasp Gun and Scourge of the Corruptor can take you past Golem.

Pumpkin Moon gives the Bat Scepter and Raven Staff, and finally Besty and Fishron drop plenty of animal-themed weapons. This may be one of the easiest playthroughs.

Amarok might be able to last until Plantera if used with fire gauntlet
You became the very thing you swore to destroy not use

Anyways this is a fun idea. I voted pop culture one to be hardest simply because I wouldn’t know what is and what isn’t a pop culture reference, and that likely would impact difficulty depending on how much research I was willing to do.

Easiest would be holy or evil, hardest whould be animal. You would have to use the megashark against moon lord. Unless theirs some kind of hidden weapon I can't remember
