Basically the title. I was wondering why killing golem who’s all the way in the jungle leads to the cultists appearing in the dungeon. From a lore standpoint ofc.
Mille Marteaux
Empress of Light
For some context, for a while (1.2.4) Golem was kind of the final boss, along with the other optional challenges of Duke Fishron and Pumpkin/Frost Moon invasions. Thus, for there to be a new final boss, it would have to be placed after Golem. This means that defeating Golem lets the Cultists show up.
I personally think it makes the most sense for it to just be coincidental timing. It's kind of like how the big bad's plans and the apocalypse will conveniently pause when you go to do sidequests before the end of the game.
Defeating Plantera is what causes the Dungeon to have stronger enemies, so if anything the higher concentration of malevolence and powerful spirits would naturally attract the Cultists who would want some kind of energy source to hopefully bring the Moon Lord into the world. The time you would spend in the Temple and battling Golem would be enough time for the Cultists to come in and set up shop, so to say.

(what do you MEAN this was from the 8th Anniversary oh my god what do you mean it was that long ago)

The Destroyer
i would think because golem is the referred to god of the sun, it would give the lunatic cultists the ability after he is dead, to finally revive Cthulhu, with out the sun god or golem to stop them by blocking I guess there magicBasically the title.
