PS Vita Will the old psvita and similar generation consoles of Terraria ever be updated to the most recent version or left in old-gen?

I like playing on my vita when out of the house, and Terraria is a simple game to play whenever I’m bored, just wondering if it’ll ever catch up, because I do miss some of the most recent content like whips.
