With the release of 1.4 being the end of Terraria updates, mods are now the biggest factor in increasing the longevity of the game. At the moment, most of the modding scene focuses on versions 1.3 and later, but the Project 1.1 team thinks there is still much to be enjoyed from previous versions, specifically 1.1. Despite the huge amount of content mods like Avalon, Necro and many W1K mods add, we feel like it can be difficult to adjust to and be worth playing without the quality of life features that newer Terraria versions have added. That's why we started Project1.1 - with a goal of making these mods more playable and more enjoyable by backporting features that most of us are used to, with the ultimate goal being to get more players interested in older versions. On top of that, we're looking to improve the quality of wiki documentation and support for existing 1.1 mods that players come to expect modern mods like Calamity or
The main goal of the mod is to implement features that make the game much nicer and enjoyable to play but don’t change the entire feeling of playing 1.1. As a result our focus is not so much on adding content from newer versions but adding mostly UI/gameplay tweaks. The first one that came to mind was the Smart Cursor/Auto Dig from 1.2.4.1, so our 1.0 release just includes a backport of the 1.4 Smart Cursor algorithm (with limited features, outlined below) in the form of a tConfig mod. Because we wanted it to work exactly like it does in vanilla, we used the exact same algorithm - therefore credit goes to Terraria developers as all we did was make it into a tConfig mod.
Currently implemented Smart Cursor functions include:

We expect the project to continue past this initial release, so here are some features that we want to implement in the future:

We expect the project to continue past this initial release, so here are some features that we want to implement in the future:
