I am a mom of two boys who are playing Terraria on WiiU. We did an update this morning and they still cannot make yo-yos. Are yo-yos available on the WiiU? I'm new to this whole thing so we are trying to figure that out. Thanks.

no. the Wii U stopped receiving actual content updates about a year ago. your game version is roughly equivalent to the PC update 1.2.4 also known as the fishing update, but this is loose information someone more familiar with terraria can give you more specific information.
(TL;DR yo-yo's are not in the Wii U version and will most likely never will be)
