OOC Abyssal Grotto (OOC)

Name: Xylv Likos

Gender: Female

Age (Optional): Good question!

Species: Variylian

Appearance: A young looking mad scientist lady, her typically white coat stained with God knows what. Her belt has a weird pouch on it, black cloth tied shut with a Scarlet string.

Personality (Optional): Mad Scientist, and is definitely insane. Fortunately, she's on the  fun side of it.

Equipment: All of her stuff is in the Infinibag, the weird pouch she has that can allegedly hold anything!...that can be shoved through the opening.
Sharkion: A little metal box with a giant orange button. When pressed, dispenses a cloud of carbon monoxide. Used as a sleep aid.
Laser pen: Shape of pen, fires a laser strong enough to melt cardboard.
The Cracker: A cartoonishly oversized mallet.
Zoomitron: Yknow Shadow the Hedgehog's rocket boots? Yeah take those but remove any safety measures.
William: A puppet that definitely isn't possessed and trying to kill everyone. I promise!
And the pinnacle of science... THE BOOMINBOMBINBIRD! Its... a little robot bird. That can, like a white Pikmin, hurt whatever eats it. It does so by triggering a micro nuclear detonation within their digestive tract.

Abilities: Mad Science. Has 5 million power in Rise of Kingdoms. And her most unique power.... Temporal Shielding. What does that mean? It's quite simple. Whenever Xylv would suffer fatal damage, she seemingly... doesn't. However, this instead does damage to her lifespan, the amount depending on severity. Lethal poisons and other "Kill you over time" effects do that to her lifespan. Fortunately for her, several decades of testing whatever illegal substances she's made and experiencing the Shatter means she has roughly 354,261 years to burn. You can never kill Science! MWAHAHAHAHA!

Strengths: Give her random junk and she'll probably find a way to make it dangerous.

Weaknesses: Painfully mediocre in almost every other aspect. Legally insane. If her lifespan ever reaches zero, she immediately turns to dust with zero warning, and becomes unable to revive. William is, in fact, possessed and wants to kill everyone.

Name: Daice, God of Chance

Gender: Male

Age (Optional): N/A

Species: Some sort of humanoid thing..

Appearance: (I refuse to post my :red:ty drawing..)

A roughly six foot tall man in three piece suit. He wears black slacks, a white button-up shirt, shiny black shoes, a black undercoat, and a clean red overcoat. He has little white dice cufflinks and a red tie with little white die on it. He has clean black thin gloves. His head is quite literally a red D6 with white dots for the sides. He has a horrifyingly malformed gun on his belt. It's a shiny silver revolver with a 20 bullet drum, none of the actual slots filled with anything. It has a shiny white ivory grip on it as well. He has a deck of some odd, blank playing cards tucked in his overcoat pocket.

Personality (Optional):

Oddly happy given any circumstance. Seems to be forced at times, but extremely optimistic. Loves to mess with people and loves to talk. Has an insane inferiority complex, but he likes to keep that pushed down below his showy exterior.

Height (Optional): Roughly 6 feet tall.

Weight (Optional): about 190 pounds.

Equipment:

Roulette, the name he's given his revolver, and the blank cards on his jacket. He also seems to have some chips in his pocket?

Abilities:

His entire moveset is based on risk and reward. He decides the power of the attack he wants to make, 1 being the strength of a wet tissue, and 20 being.. potent, to say the least. This will correspond with the number of bullets loaded into the drum of his revolver. If he wants a tier 5 attack, for example, then 15 bullets will be loaded. Then a normal roll (or more, depending on the situation) will go into determining if the spun barrel of his revolver lands on an actual bullet. From there, he makes yet another roll for the attack actually hitting or not. As a result of this insane chance, his hard hitting attacks are very potent, but rarely ever manage to land.

Seeing as he is a "god", he's technically immortal, but all this means is that if he dies, he'll begin a several thousand year process to reform...

Strengths:
Can dish out immense damage, debuff enemies, and bolster his allies.

Weaknesses:
Can consecutively fail to hit anything, debuff his allies, and buff his enemies.

Not particularly physically strong or fast, much more durable than an average person, but by no means considered a tank.

Extras (Optional): His theme

Backstory (Optional):

It was a late night at Daice's Casino when an old regular walked in with a couple of friends.

Daice looked at his chess game with the god of bad luck, sighing and getting up.

The armless, withered old god looked back at him.
"Are you really going to go deal with them?"

Daice grumbled.

"Do I have any choice?"

...

And so, Daice began to run their table for the evening. Once drinks were out, the gods began betting their belongings. Sadly, it was not uncommon to bet Daice himself, or to threaten him with a particular punishment if he didn't give them a "boost." Tonight was no different.

After being threatened to be impaled by several dozen glass spikes, Daice silently bolstered the cards of the threatening god, who smirked. Another god has unfortunately noticed this happen, and a bar fight among the deities soon broke out. Daice made his leave back behind the counter, silently polishing glasses and massive crackles of lighting clashed against sharp shards of glass, void beams, and metal chains.

The night ended with all of the gods dead, all except for the god of glass, who limped up to Daice, glaring at him dead in the.. die.

Without a word, he grabbed him by the head, hurling him into a portal to.. god knows where.

Name: Syni

Gender: Female

Age (Optional): 4 years old. "Hey, I'm definitely smarter than a human 4 year old though."

Species: Fox (Partially crystalline)

Appearance: A slender, emerald green and silver fox with a white tip on their tail. Their flesh seems to be almost crystalline in appearance, with how shiny it is...though at least they move in an organic fashion. Their ears, however, are certainly crystalline, along with their mane around their neck.

Personality (Optional):
  • Obsessively positive. You can practically tell how forced it is at times.
  • Sharp, critical, and blunt. Bit lacking in social skills.
  • Childish, at times.
  • Seems to repress their other emotions a ton.

Height (Optional): 2ft 1.

Weight (Optional): 20kg

Equipment:
  • Sling for carrying a water bottle.
  • A water bottle as well, carried in said sling, for water storage.

Abilities:
  • Anima Affinity: As a result of her...odd affinity with the glowing crystals you can see on her body, her body is able to generate Anima, the Essence of Life, which she can use in a few different ways.
    • Anima Shards: Floating, green needle-like crystal shards that she can manipulate at will to stab into allies, injecting the Anima in them (sort of, anyway. The crystals generally just break apart on impact mostly painlessly, and the Anima Essence flecks just end up going on their body to be absorbed). Each shard can, in this way, heal as much as a moderate sword slash (for organic beings, unfortunately. Anima does not help with mechanical constructs), though these get less effective the more badly wounded her target is. So while she can provide quick patch-ups for relatively insignificant wounds, it takes multiple more shards than expected to help someone recover from near death (at a cap of 6, in this particular case). She can have up to 8 surrounding her at a time, though these take a few minutes to recover, so she does need to use them wisely in active combat situations.
      • These shards begin to take on a different nature entirely, when Syni gets, in all honesty, pissed. Mostly when the situation gets dire. Crystals spike up from her back like some kind of porcupine as a result of her emotions amplifying the output of Anima production in her body, which darkens to a very dark silver. Her shards become significantly faster, sharper, durable, and all around better at cutting things, thus being great self-defence weapons in a pinch. The Anima locked up inside them can still be injected into others, though they no longer heal others, and are a bit more painful when stabbed into another now. Instead, these shards enhance their body, allowing them to fight with more strength or speed temporarily. Notably, these shards have no effect if used to stab Syni herself due to her power-boost being because of the Anima already coursing through her body.
Syni herself, in fact, is also stronger and faster as a result of this Anima influx through her body, though only to the degree that makes her an actually useful combatant as opposed to someone that can only take potshots in actual fights.
    • Her body also naturally emanates Anima naturally, granting her a healing touch that can regenerate most organic battle wounds in about a minute (barring things like severed limbs. Minor damage, even if fatal, such as to the heart, is possible to heal if the person is not quite dead yet). However, this has the unfortunate effect of causing people to pass out from the influx of Anima into their body, and they wake up stiff in the body afterwards, so she can't exactly use this in a battle context either. It's great for post-battle recovery, though this also tires her out if she has to use it too much.
  • Crystalline Fox: As a fox, she is quite lithe and agile. In addition, her partially crystalline body and healing factor from the Anima inherent in said crystals does also allow her to take more punishment than you'd expect, due to more durability in general and her ability to regenerate wounds, though she definitely is not acting as an outright tank and does need to avoid getting hit too much where she can. Using her Anima to regenerate away wounds does also tire her out, after all, at a faster rate than if she were to use her healing touch on others.

Strengths:
  • Healing her teammates
  • Giving them general power-ups if particularly desperate.
  • Able to fend for herself if she seriously needs to.
  • Keeping the mood happy.

Weaknesses:
  • Not great at directly contributing to fights normally
  • When enraged, she is quite dependent on her shards to do precision based damage as opposed to anything with particularly notable amounts of power. She also is incapable of healing in this state. Her shards do not heal, her healing factor does not work, and her healing touch is not active either. Her strength and speed increase also is not that marked.
  • Abrasive at times, despite her obsessions with looking at the bright side of things.

Extras (Optional): The basis for this character, of course, is Unikitty and your standard MMORPG healer.

Backstory (Optional):
The world of Cacion, lately, had been going through some...odd changes. First of all, the humans started learning how to harness the power of Essences, after multiple years of global warming began to rear severe side effects on the environment of their planet. Then...several members of multiple other, typically non-sentient species began to develop actual intelligence, sentience, and self-awareness, along with their lifespans suddenly beginning to elongate. This phenomenon is known as the Overturning...though unfortunately people still are relatively unsure as to why these things were happening. Theories did exist, of course. For example, partial depletion of the ozone layer and the increase in concentration of CO2 in the air, by even relatively minute amounts, allowed in small concentrations of radiation that, due to being kept from radiating right out into space due to the greenhouse gases, somehow...began to dissociate Essences from the resources they were inherent in. Anima (a fuel, of sorts, useful for healing magic and creating Animates) in most forms of life, Hydro (useful for water magic) from the water, Pyra (useful for fire magic) from live flames. The increased concentration of Essences in the world, in turn, appeared to stimulate some kind of evolution in several smaller species, thus resulting in their increased intelligence.
Syni, her parents, and the clan of foxes she was part of were some such animals affected by the Overturning. For the most part, they were relative hermits, devoted to guarding this anomalous cave filled to the brim with Essence crystals, referred to as Essents. Such crystals were packed with power that attracted the greedy pickaxes of miners from all over the region, which the foxes typically chased off by harnessing the power of the Essents, using them to ward them off with powerful magic such as fire waves.
One day, during a particularly dangerous assault on the caves to try and break through to get at these Essents, Syni was made to retreat far into the caves to get away from all the human forces attacking her home. It got too dark for her, and at some point, she tripped. And tumbled and tumbled, Essents scratching and slicing her up the whole way. Until she got impaled on a vein of glowing green Anima Essents...

Accepted, might want to tweak how spammable the healing is later if it turns out to be a problem, but looks good for now.
I almost want to fully come back just for this. I don’t know if I can contain my ideas…
I personally would be quite pleased, but this RP isn't going anywhere (I hope) so you can have time to decide. Probably starting on Monday but applications will still be open afterwards.

Aand as a note for the record, bumped up the requirement for Syni’s full-recovery shard requirement from 5 to 6.

Edit: And clarified that her shards can only provide temporary buffs when Syni is angry.
Edit 2: Also clarified her weaknesses.

Name: XR-705 (Real name unidentified)

Gender: Unknown

Age (Optional): Unknown

Species: Human in a robot exoskeleton

Appearance: Their robotic exoskeleton is cool, sharp and sleek. The upper torso and arms are well-protected. The colours are a combination of dark grey and black, with red accents. They wear a hooded jacket made of a carbon fibre-esque composite, complete with several pouches. They also wear black and red cargo pants, a tactical belt, and combat boots. Their face is covered with an angular black mask, complete with RGB lighting (set to red and orange, of course). Inside this exoskeleton is a human, although you can't see that.

Personality (Optional): Quite reclusive. Doesn't say much. Very straightforward, thinks rationally but mainly focuses on the now rather than the future. Keeps a cool head in tough situations. While they enjoy being a lone wolf, having a team doesn't hurt.

Height (Optional): 198cm

Weight (Optional): 150kg

Equipment:
The XCE Hybrid Blade is a highly advanced single-edged blade used for slicing through XR-705's enemies, solid structures and loaves of bread. The blade is sturdy, fairly long and slightly curved. It's stabilised by a high frequency alternating current, and combines a heating core that raises the blade's edge temperature up to 10,000 degrees Kelvin. This gives it the ability to cut through virtually anything, and incinerate it too. The drawback is that it requires charge time, and while it does generate its own power, it can only last for so long before losing charge and becoming a regular old sword. To preserve power, the blade only activates the heating core when it's about to strike, and it can be disabled entirely without sacrificing much cutting power.
The "Pulsed Wave Radiation" Atomic Rifle boasts quite a lot of power. It can fire a continuous beam of energy that heats up anything it's aimed at, enough to melt metals in a matter of seconds. It also disintegrates flesh with ease, and if that doesn't get you, the radiation poisoning will. In short, it shoots heat lasers. It's not particularly effective against natural rock, but can still crack it with time. It requires Fusion Cells to function, and it drains them fairly quickly. They do recharge on their own, if you like waiting for a week or so. The system takes take to power up before firing, and its beam takes a few seconds to reach maximum power. While not super cumbersome when holstered, it's unwieldy and not particularly easy to use, so it's best used at longer distances.
Classified military tech in the hands of a cyborg merc. This adaptive sidearm can switch firemodes to suit many combat scenarios. Firing concentrated bolts of high-temperature plasma with lots of force, it has the power of conventional bullets with the added benefit of heating things up. It's light, tough, and the magazines hold plenty of charge, along with being fairly compact. Fire modes include:
- Machine pistol: fully automatic fire at 1000RPM. The mode used most frequently by XR-705, most effective against smaller targets. While the projectiles are the weakest, it still has light armour piercing capability. It's fairly accurate to 30 metres, but velocity and range diminish after that.
- Shotgun: fires a blast of plasma that spreads out, unsurprisingly. The blast has tonnes of power, at the cost of range. Capable of deleting weaker materials or organisms, it excels in close quarters combat. Most effective within 20 metres.
- Burst pistol: similar to its default mode, but with a 5 round burst. Has a higher rate of fire at 1800RPM, and highly accurate. This mode is slightly more powerful, and has longer range than MP. This is best suited for precise-ish shots at medium range.
- Marksman bolt: the "muh sniper pistol" mode. Even comes with a super cool projected scope with real magnification. Uses the most charge, but fires incredibly powerful bolts of plasma that penetrate most armour with ease. The projectile trail lingers, burning anything that crosses it for a second or two after firing.
Aside from that, XR-705 carries a utility knife, throwing blades, some rope and a rappelling hook, plenty of spare ammo, a compact "basically-a-phone-from-the-future", and an indestructible Utsuho Reiuji fumo.

Abilities:
- Superhuman strength and reflexes, letting them do cool ninja stuff and precisely dice up anyone that threatens them. They can't quite flip a car, or freeze time, but that's nothing to scoff at.
- Superhuman speed and agility. They can dodge a speeding car, jump upwards nearly 10 metres from a standstill, parkour super quickly and, most importantly, do a rapid dash that can avoid nearly anything. They can't exactly chain those dashes, though.
- Durability and Stamina: XR-705 can take quite a few hits before being taken down. They're supposed to be fairly stealthy, mobile and swift, but worse comes to worst, they can take many bullets, slashes, stabs, etcetera. Their metal exoskeleton will resist small arms fire and blades, to a certain degree. They also have high stamina, and can keep fighting for sustained periods without breaking a sweat. Their not quite a Raiden from Metal Gear or Doom Slayer from (surprise) Doom, with natural human limitations. That's not to say they're weak.
- Focus Mode: for a short period of time, XR-705 can enter focus mode. This greatly increases their speed, agility and accuracy, but reduces their defense substantially. A hit they otherwise could've tanked would deal much more damage. This lasts only briefly, as XR-705 can only handle it for so long. Getting hit cancels focus mode.
- Reactive Energy Shielding: thanks to advanced energy systems, XR-705 can envelop themself in a defensive field that absorbs damage. Normally, this is quite weak. It can only take some medium-calibre shots, a couple slashes, or a couple hits from a metal pipe. It's more of a "slip-up protection" sort of thing. However, XR-705 can activate Max Defense and resist even more damage for a short period of time. It's basically Armor Lock from Halo: Reach. This will disable the reactive shields afterwords. The shields take about 25 seconds or 2 turns to recharge.

Strengths: As stated above, superhuman abilities and high-tech gear make them a formidable character. They have great fighting skills, with a mix of power, strategy and stealth. On account of their enhancements, they are heavily resistant to diseases or illnesses, biohazards, radiation and The Dark™.

Weaknesses: They're still human inside, and have limitations in spite of their cyber gear. They still require rest. Works by themself most of the time and often foregoes teamwork to do their own thing. Antisocial. Can take a while to fully recover from a particularly tough battle. Cannot swim on account of being 150 kilos. Weak to extreme heat or cold, or anything goopy.

Extras (Optional): I've dumped way more effort than needed for a character. Do I regret it? No.
I thought they might be a little OP but considering the giant mech, basically immortal scientist and Mr RNG, idk.

Backstory (Optional):

It's stabilised by a high frequency alternating current, and combines a heating core that raises the blade's edge temperature to well over 40,000 degrees Kelvin.
It's not particularly effective against natural rock, but can still crack it with time. It's a lightweight weapon, but requires Fusion Cells to function, and it drains them fairly quickly. They do recharge on their own, if you like waiting for a week or so.

At a glance it seems fine but all of these incredibly strong weapons put together makes them overpowered, especially compared to everyone else here.
Immortal scientist, sure, but they're not immortal in the sense that they can walk into whatever they like without caring and they don't have any particularly strong abilities otherwise.
RNG guy I'm genuinely assuming he'll be kind of weak in all honesty.
Considering they're both tough and fast, I would balance this character more around the mech, which is similar in power but is a larger target and notably has a slightly smaller and more specialized arsenal.
All the abilties and other details should be OK, but the weapons need to be tweaked.

This is almost ten times as hot as the surface of the Sun, even if it is limited that is kind of ridiculous. Bizarre implications aside, not really a fan of basically guaranteed one-hit-kill melee weapons with little to no drawbacks unless the user is either really slow or some kind of glass cannon, which isn't the case here. I will say changing it to plasma damage should work, as it's not absurd but still very powerful and would still quickly take out most things.
The "Pulsed Wave Radiation" Atomic Rifle boasts quite a lot of power. It can fire a continuous beam of energy that heats up anything it's aimed at, enough to melt metals in a matter of seconds. This is basically a mini-nuke, while it is cool I think it being a lightweight weapon doesn't make much sense. I'll let an extremely powerful laser like this work, but it should be slow and at least somewhat cumbersome to activate. The recharge thing alone does help to balance it a bit, but I think in a logical sense a nuclear laser beam shouldn't be as easy to use as your main weapon.

This one I'm mostly okay with but I will just say that for balance reasons, the plasma bullets aren't going to be that much stronger than their regular bullet equivalents. Doesn't need to be changed though.

From what I can tell, you're looking at the weapons a little wrong. (not a criticism, just an observation)
For the Hybrid Blade: As stated in my post, the heated edge doesn't add much cutting power. It only adds fire damage by scorching flesh or materials. As for "one hit kill", it's still a sword, so it requires being in an enemy's face in the first place, and against a larger being it'd take many hits to disable it. As a compromise, I'll make it so that the blade "slows down" when cutting due to resistance from whatever it's trying to slice (i.e requiring more force and possibly a counter
For the Atomic Rifle: It's not a "mini-nuke", as I said, it projects a beam of energy. In short, it's a heat ray. What I have added is charge-up time, which I planned to add when making this that somehow didn't happen. I guess being lightweight would be too powerful, but I didn't plan for it to be a crutch weapon nor anything more than a fancy laser gun.
For the VDS: As the post states, the plasma bullets have the power of conventional bullets, I didn't explicitly state they were stronger (aside from the heat effect).

(Not to mini-mod or anything, but)…firstly.

It still clearly states that it can cut through anything, first of all. Maybe you intended it to be able to slice through anything though…eventually, by some kind of slow melting process or something. Buut…second of all, the listed temperature is still twice the surface temperature of the sun. So while I think I can grasp at what you mean, logically any sword even at sun temperatures would cut through most normal materials such as solid rock or solid steel armour like warm butter. I appreciate the flavour text, think it sounds neat, but judging from the way you’re trying to make it sound, you miight as well remove the “10,000 degrees kelvin” part (probably should be able to keep the heating part, just not at ludicrously high temperatures like that) at that point for the exact same effect. And the part that says it can cut through anything. But that is simply an observation of mine. Orcha should be able to provide final judgements soon.

I think it's OK now honestly. 10,000 degrees Kelvin can probably work. I mostly meant it was a one-hit-kill just because anything surviving being cut by something 40,000 degrees felt unrealistic.

Changes seem good. Mostly just felt like a mini nuke to me as it had effects similar to a nuke but more concentrated and directed.

Alright, generally plasma can be pretty strong but good to know.

Anyway, accepted.

Announcement; since we have reached 10 characters (thank you for the support, I will try my hardest to make this RP at least somewhat live up to expectations) I am planning to split the initial cast up into two groups. I'm mainly doing this because a group of 10 characters together would make it too easy for some users to be left behind.
I've assigned the teams myself vaguely based on powerscaling and mainly user activity.
Group A will be a little faster paced since most users in it are online relatively frequently and have more time.
Group B will move a little slower because most users in it don't seem to be online as often or for as long, and I'd rather nobody gets left behind simply because they don't have as much time to RP.
If anyone has any major objections, I'm completely fine with switching the teams around a bit.

Group A
Group B

Just putting this here to note that even if I do decide to join, it probably won't be very soon because of my recent struggles with motivation, inspiration, and similar things. And as an added effect there's a good chance I'll just use an older, more familiar character at first.
