So finally we're getting sandstorms? Awesome! But, will there be new enemies that exclusive to sandstorms?

Flip a coin. If heads, no. If tails, still no.

Until we're told otherwise, that is.

@aWolfen This shouldn't be any more processing than having it snow during a blood moon.

Still, there is a significant difference between shouldn't, and won't.

But my computer can't handle snow during a blood moon. ;-;

Perhaps lower resolution particles could be implemented as an in-game option to counter this.

Well, all the white sand flakes in the background aren't individual particles, but rather a screen-wide shader. So there isn't much there to hurt performance.

That being said, there's always retro lighting.

Well, maybe the amount of 'particles' the shader draws could be lowered somehow, making it less intensive on lower end PC's.

It's a bit different than you might expect. There really aren't any particles so to speak. It's just a single image of noise that's sampled in different ways to produce the illusion of particles. So whether there's a few or many, it's the same level of performance.

In that case, it does appear that little can be done.
