A couple simple ideas for adding more flavor to various builds. I know 1.4 is the last big content update, but maybe a few small things like this can still slip in!
Blank Book
This is a book that you can add text to, using the same interface as signs. I imagine they could be found as an uncommon alternate on the dungeon's shelves, and would have a similar appearance.
Some ideal uses for this:
Book Switch
This is a placed book that functions as a switch. It would appear as a singular book on the shelf, and look recessed (darkened) when in the "off" position.
Obtaining this would be a simple craft recipe involving a book, a switch, and a wire. Probably at an anvil, for consistency with other wiring crafts.

- Give titles to the books you put in your NPC houses and libraries.
- Make silly "journal entries" for your NPCs.
- Add more thematically appropriate notes in adventure maps.
- There could even be pre-existing messages on the dungeon's books on world gen.
