The gods do what they do (like in the lore) and create Terraria... Terraria, like expected, is quite balancefull with both light and dark submerged to result in complete purity -AND there it is, Tuvi- Terraria is born!
After such event, the remaining, stubborn pieces of this emerging is sealed into the void for being pure evil and hallow... Well... umm... Until Cthulhu comes for the destruction of Terraria or something like that...

Cthulhu is a beast born from void and darkness rising to bring death and destruction which would create a war even long before its emerging. There is where the lihzahrds play their role! Being a most powerful magic, the lihzahrd power sees the phrophecy of Cthulhu, and builds a temple from the indestructible material made from all the jungles supply of chlorophyte to protect the lihzahrd community. When Cthulhu comes in, the only thing that can protect humanity is the dryads, which manage to kill Cthulhu, forcing pieces off its soul and exiling its information of form along with its soul off to the moons of Terraria...
. . . but but as the horrifying beast is turning into ashes, its dying roar does it to destroy all life stepping upon Terraria, destroying a horrifyingly great population and leaving only the small and unpopulated lihzahrds behind.

A soul is the only that's left after the deceased, but it decays in the shortest time. Whenever people die, their souls leave their body, becoming corrupted and requiring important relics to even be put back. But in such a case as Cthulhu, only the most lucky seem to still have souls at all. When all the massacre is over, when not even the old universe is at its shape, Cthulhu's ashes seemed to shape the corrupted souls to simple beings, eventually causing life's rebirth in Terraria. The ashes slowly became tools for reincarnation.
The corruption is formed by the sins of Terrarians brung by the horrifying might of Cthulhu. It shares no understanding of war, nor peace, destroying or infecting everything in its path by its horrifying disease...
The crimson is formed by horror Cthulhu brung with its massacre. It shares a hive mind now controlled by a piece of Cthulhu's mind. It was sealed by the gods for being too dangereus and powerful...
The hallow, is the birth of holy beings out of control to be evil to what's truly hallow. It was rarely open or known about at all, staying a legend, or myth...
Each world within Terraria has a hidden guardian barely reachable that seals away the ancient spirits of light and dark that release after the guardian is defeated. The curses and powers are opened by such event, empowering beings and giving back power to ancient, dead demons...
