This bug has existed (at least for me) since before the 1.4 update, but it still hasn't been fixed.
Steps to reproduce:
1. launch terraria with headphones plugged in.
2. once terraria has fully started, unplug in headphones.
3. unplug and replug in headphones as much as you want, there will be no sound AT ALL until you restart the game.

Alternatively if you launch the game with NO headphones plugged in, the game will always play audio from the speakers even if you plug headphones in after launching

I'm assuming this bug is somehow tied to my hardware, but i don't know if there's a fix for it or not.

this is my laptop:

Terraria does not update its current sound device mid-gameplay, it needs to be restarted.

We are looking into some issues where sound functions stop when devices are unplugged mid-gameplay. :)

@shatteredsword

We are trying to look into this issue, but we need an error log for the issue to be able to investigate it further.

If you want to help us get one, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to your Steam Library
2. Right click Terraria and select Properties
3. Open "Set Launch Options" and paste the following into it: -logerrors -logfile
4. The next time you run the game and it crashes from this issue, you should get an error log. To find this log, go to Documents>My Games>Terraria>Logs. The most recent log after the crash should hopefully contain some info on what caused the crash.

If you can provide that log here in this thread, we can investigate the cause and fix it :)

it doesn't crash my game, but here's the log anyway. I'm not sure that there's any useful information in it. :/
I will note that I don't own any Corsair devices, so i'm not sure what that part is about

It still happens :/
I'm playing on a laptop- Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-58NR
1. Playing a local multiplayer on cloud.
2. Decided to play valo.
3. Suddenly audio plugin(samsung with wire) doesn't work anymore/very quiet.
4. Then decided to play terraria and realised that this has never happened in 2 years before and that it has to be terraria. Also because when I first got recommended downloading terraria, he said have to restart world/game because Terraria sound drivers are buggy.
5. But when I'm playing terraria and plug in the earphones the sound just comes out of the speaker.
