more things for space and sky, after pre-boss you never go back except for wyverns and martian probes
also a lot more non-combat content plantera and onwards + reasons to visit biomes that aren't the dungeon or jungle at that point
starlink battle for atlas, never truly took off and was abandoned a year after release but i will probably keep replaying it for the rest of my life
but if we counted entire franchises as one valid choice then probably monster hunter
put monster hunter's partbreaking and physiology mechanics onto bosses (and maybe some stronger enemies), star rankings from the same series is a close second

honestly this does make sense, especially since summoner has too few subclasses compared to the others

how i would do it is buff golem and make empress and duke (you can still fight him as soon as hm begins) required bosses alongside it, you would need to beat all 3 of them after plant to fight the cultists (all former post-golem content will be moved to post-plant while martians will be moved to...
i like most of these but some of the boss changes would be annoying, also something i think should happen is more general exploration in hardmode (especially near the end)
queen slime (so many projectiles...)
cultist (super annoying to fight for no reason)
martian saucer (only because of the second phase)
nebula pillar (spams a ton of homing projectiles that deal a lot of damage, and obstructed is annoying)
