it's because some devs are taking more money from their part, making the rest of the team in somekind of protest...

No, actually, it's neither of those reasons. I could go into it more, but be prepared for a wall of text if you want to hear the full story...

So it starts, as you thought, with a person (Void, one of the Invasion Project leaders) claiming that the reason the update is delayed is because Ronin and Bang! (two other leaders) are trying to take over 50% of the profits for themselves. This information was posted to the TF2 Mappers group chat and was promptly screenshotted, censored, and posted all over the internet to TF2 sites [cont].

No one, of course, bothered to question the truth of these statements which were obviously made without rational thought (by that I mean the poster, Void, was very angry), so people were unsure about the veracity of the statements and thought the whole chat might've been forged (it was not). [cont]

So, the two major TF2 information centers, r/tf2 and facepunch's Major Update Speculation thread, began discussing this chatlog in depth, debating whether it was real or not, when a prominent community contributor, Zoey "Sexy Robot" Smith stepped in and said that the update was indeed supposed to hit today, but that due to unforseen delays it would not be launching today. People then began questioning that, thinking that "it might just be part of a larger ARG designed to get our hopes down!" but also thinking that it might just be true, and the update might not be hitting today. Sexy Robot (and also Chaofanatic, another contributor of particle effects for Unusuals, most notable for his work on EOTL) continued to confirm that the update would not be hitting today. [cont]

Around this same time, people on r/tf2 were getting anonymous PMs from a supposed Invasion Project insider that kept giving them insider information and leaks about Invasion, such as a spoiler of maps that would be included, and, interestingly enough, a picture of the profit divisions for what people assumed to be the project as a whole, and indeed, Ronin and Bang! were taking most of the profits. These leaks started getting spread, and people on Facepunch started talking about the leaks as well. People on Facepunch also noted that Harry101UK and YM, two prominent community members (the former is a major contributor to the Invasion Project, the latter is just a prominent community contributor with no overt ties to the Invasion Project) were in the thread. [cont]

People asked them for their input. YM said that he didn't know much but a lot of what he did know was confidential due to his ties with Ronin, but Harry was willing to go a little bit farther than that, and clarified a lot of things. He clarified the update's delay, saying that it in fact wasn't due to money problems but due to some work not being done and some unforseen errors (same as Sexy Robot said). [cont]

He also clarified that the update was not canceled, just delayed, and would probably be 'not very long' of a wait. He would not go into further detail on this. His final point of clarification was making sure that people knew that the picture detailing the profit dividings was not quite true - it was the profit dividings for one asset of the project - not the whole thing. Of course, people still speculated about when the release was to be, and about the fishiness and drama of this whole situation. When it had just about reached its peak, Ronin, the man himself, stepped into the Facepunch thread to do an impromptu AMA of sorts and tried to answer a lot of pertinent questions about the update. He detailed that the 'errors' in question were coding errors on the website for the Invasion Project and that it wasn't ready to go up yet, and that some people hadn't done the work they needed to do. He refused to give names (probably a good thing). He posted information showing which members were supposed to do what. [cont]
