Grab a decent pair of armor (Crimson/Shadow or higher) and something like a bee keeper and head down there.

It helps to have platforms everywhere so you don't fall and die horribly in lava like I always do

Bring a grappling hook as well.

I've saved myself from a fiery death multiple times with it.

The main problem is enemies, mostly bats. I can't believe how they can be ridiculously annoying...
