See to turn into the other pokemon, and make it call for help till shiny appears

That's one way of doing it. I just use substitute to prevent transform from working. I then keep knocking out the old ditto and using false swipe to encourage more ditto to arrive. When the shiny arrives send out a slakoth with a few weak moves. I get 40 turns to catch it. Use thunder wave against it to prevent it calling more reinforcements.

I think that 4IV or 5IV is worth farming for than shiny, but both methods work for both reasons.

I have my silvally, magearna, and mimikyu. First I send silvally to make ditto transform, then use magearna to false swipe , then use mimikyu to wait and attack the other ditto. (Silvally's moves are all dragon or normal, so they have no effect.)

I have no idea how to check ivs, and tbh, don't care THAT much

Probably better to just have Silvally eat their soul
