Everyone just seemed to start hating me, and I know they're good people, so it must be something I did, but I don't know what so I can't even apologize so now I feel terrible and I want to just curl up in a corner so I won't upset anyone else...

Ehh, people that at one time you thought were "genuinley good people" often tend to be real jerks once you really know them/ leave thier circle of freinds. Belive me, i know this from firsthand experience. People that i looked up to at one time i realized were complete asses

Considering that your so called friends have sold you out in a matter of what after isolating yourself, that should tell you the kind of people they are. As for your cat, it could be you just caught him on an off day.
