How i dm is i’ll make my own module, but u dont have to do that
The DMG is pretty nice to have, but not necessary imo
The books that i think are necessary are the Monster Manual and the PHB

I'm thinking about making a D&D rp here and I'd like it to be more successful that the one we're in. Besides those books, where should I start? I've never DMed and I have little experience as a player.

U should probably start with a begginer module or something
Icespire peak is a good one for new dms
A good general rule is to let the player do whatever they want and then improvise lol
But you should always keep them generally steered twards the main plot
