Even if its something as simple as ramen, it just generally feels better if I made it rather than someone else, whether that being fast food restaurants or someone you're visiting.

But if you're talking about "fast food restaurant" versus "made at home" that's natural. Home-made foods are usually full of the cook's self-respect and respect for the one who's going to eat it - whether that's the same person or not.
