Though the latter point about the time drain is valid, tho - if you let them get out of control. It's pretty safe to join a low-maintenance RP like RWBY, Regnum, Onyx, Klein Star... admittedly these are all quite 'sweaty', but you only need to post every few days.
That said, the n.1 consideration for RPing or not should always be whether you'd enjoy it. It's fun, but it's not for everyone.

Honestly, I just roleplay to increase my writing experience, so I can further improve and hope to one day become an author. Unlikely, but I can dream.
