Ninjas still wield swords.
Just go look at just about any ninja out there. They wield Katanas and other larger, deadly blades.

Ha! The only accurate ninja you could/should look for for examples as to how ninjas operate is the one from Mark of the Ninja.

That game did everything right, when it came to portraying ninjas. It's a pretty solid game, too, 10/10 would bang recommend

That's a misconception. Ninja do not wield Katana, they wield Ninjato, which are much shorter and smaller, allowing them to be concealed in a sleave.

Yeah, ninjas weren't unstoppable killing machines, they were unseen, unheard, unknown assassins. They were as silent as their own shadows.
