Log off of Steam and log back in. Should work.

Now steam doesn't even open when I click the executable file to run the game

Oh... uhh... I got nothing now...

If that doesn't work open task manager and under the processes tab look for a name similar to the application and end it.

Maybe you should re download it, I don't know though.

It's not even on there, let me try other games

You could always restart your computer

I had that happen to me, and it doesn't go away. Try installing Steam to another directory, else wait it out.

I would have said "kill the process for Steam, the game, or both"

I'm just uninstalling steam and re-installing. if that doesn't work then fml

Ive had a similar problem with a game thinking its been launched but not actually launching, but outside of what I said above, I dont remember what I might have done to fix it. You tried googling the problem?

Reinstalling steam just made me lose 1000 hours of Terraria progress and didn't solve my problem.

arent worlds and characters seperate from the steam folder and located in your documents though?
