The reason they don't corrupt is because the corruption doesn't just eliminate everything If you place some wood down it isn't gonna be corrupted and if you place ore down it won't turn into demonite, nor do clouds or really anything aside from stone, ice and grass

it's presumably because gigantic mushrooms in the background while you're in a mushroom biome you can see edge to edge from, along with parallax, won't look that great
