Xbox One Can’t join a friends world I spent over 12 hours on for Journeys End.

I’ve spent 13 hours on one of my buddies worlds, but for some reason whenever I try to join his world I stay in the screen “found server” and it doesn’t progress further, or I get a message saying “failed to connect to server.” I don’t know what to do. I’ve uninstalled reinstalled, restart both my router and my buddies router, reset both Xbox’s and nothing works. I can join other worlds but I can’t join anything that he is the host of.
