Xbox One Can’t Play Multiplayer

I bought this game to play with my friend and when he sent me an invite to join it said found server or connecting and then after a minute it kicked me out of finding it and said unable to join session please try again in a few minutes. He tired to join mine and the same thing happened. Our NAT types are open and everything.

This happens with all kinds of Xbox games. This sounds generic, but try clearing the cache and then retry. He should clear his too... My friend and I always have this issue with Destiny.
