villagers refuse to actually move in to houses instead reserving it. i treid killing them and it didnt work or at least not as expected after killing one that had the problem a different one got fixed by moving into the house the one had just died in the one with the problem respawned with a reservation instead of moving in.

Do you mean the NPC inside the house with 'reservation'?

A reservation occurs when you as the player allocate a NPC to a house. To cancel a reservation, select the NPC and right-click the house/flag. If a house is reserved, no other NPCs will move into it unless there are no other valid houses for them to move into. The purpose of a reservation is that if an NPC is killed, when they respawn, they'll move back into their reserved house.
