Terrarian
Enhanced version of the textures of Terraria 1.3.0.8 - 1.4.4.6
This is how it looks like:

instead of this:

Some examples:

The whole pack is around 80MB, which means I cannot post the zip file to this forum.
Can be downloaded here: sullerandras/terraria-hd-textures

The Images.zip contains the HD version of all more than 11k textures in the Images folder, and some textures in the Images/UI folder.
It may not be perfect, but I like it better than the original low resolution look.

To install, just unzip the downloaded file, then copy the .xnb files to your Terraria Contents folder, overwriting the existing files.

Let me know what do you think. Source code of the texture converter is on github: sullerandras/terraria-hd-textures

0.1 - 2016-01-09
- initial version
0.2 - 2016-01-28
- improved walls, should not have transparent pixels at the corners
0.3 - 2016-01-29
- removed the pink pixels from monoliths
- improved the gemspark and other similar blocks. I cannot try this, I hope it works.
0.4 - 2016-03-06
- improved the walls, now there should not be any "missing" pixels
- the UI buttons are now excluded from the zip. Attached a zip file containing the original xnb files of the UI buttons to restore them. I removed the attachment to avoid confusion, i guess people think that the attached zip file is the texture pack and didn't read the instructions above 👽

Will this be updated for 1.3.1? I have noticed many graphical errors with this pack. Could you please have a look at them? Take a look at this image.

Could you post an other screenshot showing the same part of the map when my sprites are not used? So that I can have a better idea which sprites are wrong. Thanks.

If 1.3.1 will use the same image format as the old one, I'll probably create an update for 1.3.1 as well.

I will send you multiple images when I return home at 3PM CST. You seem to have sprited everything, but almost all walls seem to have white pixels between them. I will send you more pictures soon. I hope this can be fixed soon. UPDATE: I will be home very soon, and will be sure to send many pictures when I arrive home.

Alright. Here are the following issues I have found with this texture pack. There are quite a few.
Right here is a link to the issue with platforms, the celestial monoliths, and traps. As you can see, there is a weird line in-between each platform, which should not be between connected platforms. Next, we have the monoliths, which have these weird white corners on the end of each tile. Next, we have the temple traps, and normal dart traps. Spear traps are normal, but all of the other traps have this weird black strip of pixels which needs to be removed, especially on the spiky ball traps. The explosives may also have this black strip, but I am not sure, since explosives cannot be placed without blocks. Finally, the platform problem also carries over (somewhat) to hammered platforms, or stairs. The platform also carries over when the platform is hammered in any other way. Here is the link to the pictures. http://imgur.com/a/qHNGV
I would also like to talk about walls. From the looks of it, it seems that every single wall in the ENTIRE game has this issue. Basically, when multiple walls are connected together, it seems that the corners are replaced by these ugly white corners, which appear on every tile. This issue is also present on the monoliths, and may also be present on every other place able item on the game, but most likely trophies, statues, and fountains are included in this list, as well as possibly banners. I don't see any other issues at the moment, but will let you know in the future.
Here is another link showing the wall issue. http://imgur.com/a/UJliF
Finally, I have also noticed weird borders on gemspark blocks (placed) Here is a link showing the issue. http://imgur.com/a/7PAfA
If you could fix the pack as soon as possible, that would be fantastic, I really like the look of this texture pack ,the sprites are very high resolution in this pack.
Thank you,

Thanks for the comprehensive report.
I programmatically magnified the sprites, and unfortunately almost every single sprite has a grid inside it. Usually it is pink colored. The magnifying algorithm obviously magnified these pink separators as well, which introduced several pink pixels in the corner of every tiles. So to avoid the pink pixels, I replaced these grid lines with transparent pixels, which means the tile corners became a little bit transparent. I knew it is not perfect, but I didn't have any idea how to solve this issue. I somehow need to make the magnifying algorithm smarter.

In the meantime I am in the transition from one computer to another, so I get back to this as soon as I have a working computer with everything installed.

Well, I can only wish you good luck, as I have no idea how to fix the issue that you appear to have. I wish you good luck, and look forward to hopefully seeing a better looking texture pack soon! I really enjoy the textures, and want to enjoy them even more. Thank you. EDIT: I also noticed that on some platforms, there is a weird stray black pixel or two beneath the platform that appears sometimes. EDIT #2: I also noticed, on the crimson helmet (on mannequins, when worn, and when in your inventory, as well as dropped on the ground) seems to have a discolored pixel on it. It appears to be yellow. Finally, on some actuated dirt blocks, I see a small black floating pixel. Here is a link to all of the issues: http://imgur.com/a/FVqqa

Thanks for these as well. The issue is that I'm a beginner Terraria player and never had a chance to see any higher grade items or monsters in the game.

No problem! As you get better at the game, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun. EDIT: You guessed it, found more issues. Many blocks have weird black lines separating them when connected, might as well just check all of the tiles for this issue. I also noticed that you forgot to re texture slopes, and the breaking animation for all blocks. They still look pixelated. There is also black pixels I notice when I fish. The fishing string has this issue.

I now have a working operating system on my computer, so I'll get back to this soon. I try to make the background tiles better first.
Slopes are automatically generated by the game from normal tiles, cannot make the edge smoother.
Tile cracks need to be done manually, the zooming algorithm cannot handle that.

I've seen other smooth texture packs make the slopes smooth. Maybe there is some way. How about you take some inspiration from this pack, hq2x. Here is the link to the texture pack. It might give you some useful information.

Maybe we mean different things by "slope". Here is what I mean:

On the other hand, I made the walls better, see the v0.2 update in the first post.

And thanks for the link of the other HD pack. I didn't see that before. He was also using the same program to magnify the images, but he was using the "NoBlend" algorithm as I read.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. I will check out the v 0.2 update when I get home. I will let you know if there are any more issues.

I uploaded a v0.3 zip file:
- fixed pink pixels on monoliths
- improved the gemspark and other similar blocks. I cannot try this, I hope it works.

I will check that one out as well. From the looks of it, V.0.2 looks much better than V.1.0

Are these still an issue with the 0.3 version?
The crimson helmet has a yellow pixel on the center, that's there in the original texture as well.

Created a new website to host my texture pack, because the first hosting site has low bandwidth quotas. See details in the first post.

Also created a silly Greasemonkey script to replace images on the Terraria wiki to my high resolution version. I created it for myself so that I can recognize items in the wiki a bit more easily. Maybe someone else will also find it useful. Here is a screenshot:
