Is there a way to quickly stop corruption?

I absolutely hate the corruption because it makes everything ugly if I don't make a huge wall or a pit between the corruption and the other biomes.
Is it possible to somehow have an easier way to remove the corruption straight when into hardmode?
My friend and I made a world recently and just got into hardmode. Our desert got instantly devoured by the corruption.
Are there solutions for deserts or something? :p
I had to waste a ton of time by making a fortress with mini-biomes.

The closest fastest way would be defeating a Mechanical Boss and use the Clentaminator bought from the Nurse.

The speed depends on your rythm of progression though, but I do think it's faster than crafting tiny solutions to hold off partially.
