PC pls help

yesterday i bought me terraria and i played with my friend multiplayer but he was lagging so hard that we cant play togheter but what is the problem?
we also tried that e hosted the game but it didnt work
pls help
 
Could be bad internet, could be his computer being close to the minimum requirements (or possibly below in some areas), could have been steam downloading in the background... There's a number of factors that could be him lagging hard, so it is hard to just say "This is what is wrong, here is how you fix it."
