The Arcanus Mod, (renamed from Aether Mod), aims to add quality content to Terraria, while keeping the vanilla feel - most of the time on the darker side.

Spoiler: Runes

Runes are items you use on your weapons that give them penalties and bonuses, and some even give buffs/debuffs. You could have the Fury rune that gives more attack damage and speed, at the cost of your defense.
Runes aim to give more customization to the classes. Do you want to be a Damage Warrior? Put Fury on all your weapons. Speedy Mage? Use Runes to fit that.
(This is different than modifiers in the way that you choose what to put on your items, as well as always having a negative and a larger positive. You also have the bonuses of buffs/debuffs.)

- Fury Rune +Atk +Atk Speed -Defense (Good for Melee/Ranged)

- Titanic Rune +Knbck +HP -Atk Spd -Mvmnt Spd(Good for Melee)

- Wise Rune +Mana +MvmntSpd -Atk -Knbck (Good for Mage/Summoner. Might go on armor.)

- Flaming Rune +Fire Debuff To Enemies -Atk Spd - Knbck (Uncraftable, probably going to be a treasure find)

-Frost Rune +Chilled Debuff to Enemies -Atk -Atk Spd

-Abyssal Rune +Shadowflame Debuff To Enemies -Atk

(I realize this is similar to the Spirit Mod's Glyphs. I had no idea they existed when I created these, however.)

Spoiler: Vikris, the Black Mage

Vikris is a pre-hardmode boss, fought once you defeat Skeletron. This boss will drop a Torn Page and an array of Defiled items. He is not completely finished, but will be finished in v0.1

Spoiler: Lore - Torn Pages

Some mysterious watcher has witnessed your great acts, Hero. He watches even now. He researches and waits. Waiting for you.
He writes his findings in a journal that has somehow fallen into your hands.

These strange notes drop from every vanilla boss once for each.

The Lumberjack:
-The Lumberjack is a pre-hardmode NPC
-Arrives after defeating Skeletron
-Sells wood, offering more choices the farther you progress

Spoiler: The Old Sage

The Old Sage:
-The Old Sage is pre-hardmode.
-The Old Sage arrives when you have a magic weapon in your inventory.
-The Old Sage arrives only after the Eye of Cthulhu is defeated.
-The Old Sage will sell some alchemy items, as well as some magic accessories.

So, I do like this, and I might make it funny, but I wanted it to be kind of like an RPG lore. These are great tho (Edit: I will probably add these in some way, and credit you. I changed the original lore tablets to Torn Pages.)
