(side note: you might want to push the projectile's starting position to the gun's Center + projectile's velocity , so it comes out of the tip)
(another side note, you can probably achieve a cooler effect by setting the spawned dust's velocity to 0 on the shots)

I've spent the last 10 minutes watching the gif in an hypnosis like status. Aware of the aiming problem, will fix on the final result. About the dust, do you mean the bullets dusts? (I'm actually using vanilla Topaz Staff bullets set to maxUpdate 2 because I am quite too lazy to make my own and they looked amazing enough already).
