    Despite nerfs, fishing for Hardmode ores from crates is still worthwhile as long as you did sufficient world prep to limit the spread of Corruption/Crimson and Hallow when Hardmode is triggered. In fact, thinking of that, not breaking altars allows for you to take the Mech bosses at your own pace because they will never spawn on their own before you're ready.
