  • Sound is 33% of a game. Having the same sound for different weapons/spells ruins the fun of the weapon.

    Because both ends of the extreme are equally bad. Enjoying a game for what it is as a whole instead of focusing on one single aspect of it? Unheard of, I guess.

    No, I agree, you do have to look at the game as a whole and ask yourself, "Was it fun?"

    But regardless, sound is still very important where it needs to be applied in the majority of games. Otherwise, companies wouldn't be selling the soundtrack of the game separately and the soundtrack wouldn't get so many views on YouTube.

    Besides, it's not necessarily 'good graphics' or 'good sound'. Rather, it is simply graphics or sound that mould well with the game. If that means 'blocky graphics' works, or having no sound whatsoever and people are still enjoying the game, then it's obvious that it's not off-putting enough having those traits.
