Might want to check your recycling bin, and disable the steam cloud

I have terraria on GOG and when I look at my characters and worlds in the terraria folder it says the character is still there but in game its just a character bar with no name and no picture

Idk how it would be I don't have any mods or anything. Is it possible to get your character corruptioned by your pc suddenly shutting off?

If you still have a "character.plr.bak" file in the save directory "Documents/My Games/Terraria", try renaming the "character.plr.bak" to just "character.plr" and see if that helps (Backup the two originals before you do this though!). This should fix it. If it doesn't work, hate to say the saves corrupted.
